Prime Minister Pledges Full Support for Military, Emphasizes National Unity

Government Commitment to Sovereignty and Soldier Welfare

In a show of solidarity, the Prime Minister has voiced unwavering backing for the armed forces. This declaration underscores the government’s resolve to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty. The aim is to boost troop morale and to foster national unity.

On June 20, 2025, at the Dome Pradit Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Miss Pae Thong Than Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, and Mr. Phumtham Vejjachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, handed out survival bags. These were given to encourage village security agents (Chor.) in Ubon Ratchathani Province. These volunteers have undergone training designed to ensure safety and peace.

The Prime Minister’s commitment comes at a time when defense spending is under scrutiny globally. Many countries are increasing their military budgets. For example, the United States plans to spend over $886 billion on defense in the coming year (Department of Defense, 2024).

Meeting with Military Leaders

Following the encouragement of Chor., the Prime Minister, joined by Mr. Phoomtham Vejjachai, General Manat Chandi, and other military officials, visited the Emerald Operations Base. The purpose of the visit was to meet the Suranaree forces. Maintenance items were provided as well, with a focus on listening to the forces’ stability concerns.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the soldiers’ dedication, acknowledging their bravery, endurance, and sacrifice. She also thanked the 2nd Region Commander and all military supervisors for their ongoing efforts. The Prime Minister recognized their consistent work to protect the people, the nation, and its sovereignty.

In her address, the Prime Minister affirmed that the government is prepared to fully support the army. She emphasized the shared Thai identity and the importance of mutual support. Soldiers are viewed as the nation’s protectors, and the government aims to ensure their well-being.
