Musk Launches “America’s Party” to Challenge Political Norms

Tech mogul Elon Musk has unveiled his new political party, “America’s Party,” aiming to disrupt the established Democratic and Republican dominance. This move follows his criticism of recent fiscal policy and a public survey indicating support for a new political force.

Party Formation

Musk announced the party’s creation on his social media platform, X, declaring, “Today, the America’s party is created to make your freedom.” This initiative emerges after Musk voiced strong opposition to the American president’s budget bill, citing concerns over its impact on public finances.

Public Support

Musk conducted a poll on X about forming a new party. He stated that, “By a report of two against one, you want a new political party, and you will have it!” Approximately 65% of 1.2 million voters favored the creation of the “America Party.”

Musk’s Critique of Current System

Musk believes the current political landscape suffers from bipartisan issues. “When it comes to ruining our country by waste and corruption, we live in a single party system, not in a democracy,” he said, criticizing both Republicans and Democrats.

Eligibility Constraints

Born in South Africa, Elon Musk is ineligible to run for president, as candidates must be native-born U.S. citizens. According to the Congressional Research Service, naturalized citizens are barred from holding the office of president or vice president.

Feud with Trump

Once an ally of Donald Trump, even generously funding his 2024 campaign, Musk has recently clashed with the former president. Musk’s opposition to Trump’s budgetary law, which is projected to increase the national debt by $3.4 trillion by 2034, sparked the conflict.

This week, Musk derided the situation, saying, “We live in a country in the single party: the Party of pigs who eat.”

Trump’s Retaliation

Trump responded to Musk’s criticisms, even hinting at potential actions against the tech mogul. When asked about expelling Musk, Trump said he would “examine” the option and then threatened: “We could put Doge on Elon. Do you know what DOGE is? Doge is the monster that could turn around and crunch Elon.”
