Drogbruk CEO Faces Backlash After Incident at Tennis Match
WARSAW, Poland – Drogbruk, a Polish company previously known primarily within local markets, is facing a significant public relations crisis after its CEO, Szerek, was filmed appearing too take a hat intended for a young fan at a recent tennis match and later berating the child. The incident, which occurred during an event sponsored by Drogbruk, quickly went viral, triggering widespread condemnation online and raising concerns about the company’s future.
The controversy unfolded after Polish tennis star Camille Mahzak gifted hats to young fans following a match. Video footage circulating online shows Szerek approaching a young boy, Brock, and taking the hat he had been given, appearing to question why the child received it. He then engaged the boy in what witnesses described as a scolding, prompting immediate outrage on social media. The incident quickly transformed into a national scandal, with Szerek’s personal social media accounts flooded with negative comments, ultimately leading him to disable commenting features and eventually deactivate his account. Financial media outlets began reporting on the potential damage to Drogbruk’s reputation and the possibility of a decline in the company’s valuation.
Responding to the uproar, Mahzak took to Instagram to launch a missing person notice, seeking to locate Brock and personally deliver a signed hat and tennis equipment.”After the game, I didn’t notice that the hat was not delivered to the little boy. Thanks to the sponsor for the hat, I still have a lot of it – please help me find that child,” Mahzak wrote.
Within hours, brock was identified, and Mahzak arranged a meeting with him, presenting him with the promised gifts and posing for photos. “Hello world! I wish you a wonderful day with Brock!” Mahzak posted alongside images from the encounter.
Mahzak also used the opportunity to appeal for calm, urging fans to refrain from further online attacks against Szerek. “it was probably some kind of misunderstanding, and he might have been excited for a moment. It might have been too late when he realized what was going on,” she said in a subsequent interview. “I mean, that’s how it’s happening. It’s not right, but the past is gone. The thing has been settled, everyone is happy, it’s time to put it down.”
As of today, reports indicate Szerek is attempting to contact Brock’s family to offer a personal apology and mend the relationship. However, he has yet to issue a formal apology through official company channels. the incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of impulsive actions in the age of social media and the importance of responsible corporate leadership.
