The Beatles’ Anthology Reimagined: Enhanced Edition Arrives with New Content
A remastered and expanded version of The Beatles’ acclaimed anthology project has been released, offering fans a sharper visual and auditory experience alongside previously unreleased material. The update arrives as renewed interest in the band surges with the recent completion of “Now and Then,” the final Beatles single featuring Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and the proclamation of four upcoming biopic films.
Originally released in the 1990s, The Beatles Anthology documented the band’s history through archival footage, interviews, and, crucially, two new songs constructed from demo recordings made by John Lennon before his death in 1980. “Free as a Bird” and “Real love” captivated audiences by offering a glimpse of what might have been, utilizing Lennon’s unfinished ideas completed by McCartney, Starr, and George Harrison. The new edition builds on this legacy, providing a refreshed presentation of the entire project and adding further content for devoted fans and newcomers alike.
The original Anthology project was notable for its use of Lennon’s demos. Recorded shortly before his murder at age 40, these fragments were meticulously worked on by the three surviving Beatles. Following the Anthology release, George Harrison passed away in 2001 at the age of 58. Now,decades later,McCartney,83,and Starr,85,have completed “Now and Then,” utilizing further advancements in audio technology to realize another of Lennon’s unfinished songs.
Beyond the music, the enduring appeal of The Beatles is being further cemented through a planned series of four feature films, directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes. Each film will focus on a single member of the band, with Paul mescal portraying Paul McCartney, Barry keoghan as ringo Starr, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon. The films are slated for release in April 2028.
