Colorado-Filmed Horror Short “The Ant” too Premiere at Screamfest in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA – A horror short film, “The Ant,” produced by Colorado-based So Good Productions, will premiere at Screamfest, the largest horror film festival in the United States, this October. The film, shot in Colorado, marks a notable step for the production company as it eyes a potential feature-length adaptation.
So Good Productions, founded by Ethan Nelson and Steele Broadbent, has quickly gained recognition for its self-reliant horror projects filmed primarily in Colorado. ”The Ant” follows their previous work, demonstrating a commitment to creative storytelling and utilizing local talent. The company is currently pitching the short for development into a full-length feature at the festival.
“Don’t listen to anyone who tells you you can’t do something. Just make things,” said Steele Broadbent in a recent interview. “make it on your iPhone. Go out, cast actors; even if it’s just your friends. The significant part is being creative and the more that you’re creative, the more you’re going to naturally build your skills and get better over time.”
Broadbent also indicated a potential return to Colorado for future filming, citing strong local crew connections, notably among cinematographers. While financial considerations will play a role, the possibility remains open.
Following the Screamfest premiere, So Good Productions plans to release a gritty drama short film, focusing on showcasing emerging actors who haven’t previously appeared in their projects. The company is based in Los angeles but maintains strong ties to the Colorado film community.
