Teacher’s Photography Skills Boost SD Muhammadiyah Parakan’s Profile
YOGYAKARTA – SD Muhammadiyah Parakan (@sdmuhammadiyahparakan) has gained notable online attention thanks to the photography skills of teacher Muhammad arfian Hariz. His images have transformed the school’s public image, drawing consistent positive feedback on social media.
Arfian, an Islamic Religious Education Teacher, shared his insights and techniques during a Creative Photography Workshop hosted by the Media Section of the PP Muhammadiyah Office on Wednesday, November 12th. He addressed 100 participants, explaining the approach behind his successful photographs.
“I teach how to carry a camera. There are activities to carry a camera. The camera and I are like a promise to friends,” Arfian stated. He emphasized that creative photography transcends simple documentation, serving as a medium for photographers to uniquely express their vision, ideas, and emotions.
Following the increased engagement on the school’s official Instagram account, Arfian reported receiving a surge of positive messages. He outlined four core concepts crucial to impactful photography.
First, photos should clearly convey a vision. “Creative photography is a way to realise the ideas in the photographer’s head and convey them to the audience,” he explained. Second, he stressed that photography is more than mere recording. “The goal of a photo is not just to capture an object, but to create an image that triggers a thought, emotion or story.”
Third,Arfian encouraged experimentation with photographic elements. “Photographers can experiment with various photographic elements such as shape, color, light, shadow and texture to create something new and impressive,” he added. he highlighted the importance of a unique viewpoint. “The ability to see the aesthetic potential in everyday situations and turn them into interesting works is his main characteristic.”
Arfian believes these principles are especially valuable for schools leveraging social media. He noted that SD Muhammadiyah Parakan is now widely recognized through its social media presence, along with its academic achievements.
“This has huge benefits for schools. Especially to encourage an increase in the number of student registrants,” Arfian concluded. (janu)
