LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Women’s Soccer aims to cap non-conference play with another victory as they host Utah State on Sunday afternoon. The Red Raiders are seeking to extend a 14-match non-conference home unbeaten streak and a 17-match September unbeaten run.
This marks the third consecutive season the two programs will meet, following a 3-0 Texas Tech win in 2023 and a 2-0 utah State victory last season in Logan.
Texas Tech enters the contest riding high on recent individual accolades. Junior Taylor Zdrojewski was named Big 12 Co-offensive Player of the Week after a two-goal performance in the Red Raiders’ 2-0 win over New Mexico State. The brace was Zdrojewski’s third career multi-goal game and second of the season, bringing her career point total to 40.
Senior midfielder madison Blackburn continues to make history for the Red Raiders. Her two assists against New Mexico State were her 39th and 40th career assists, making her the sixth player in Big 12 history and the first in program history to reach that milestone. Texas Tech boasts a 28-1-1 record in contests where Blackburn records at least one assist,with the lone loss a 2-1 defeat to BYU last year. Blackburn currently leads the nation in Assists Per Game (1.17) and is the DI active leader in assists per game (0.65) with 40 total assists - nine more than the next closest active player, Lia Godfrey of Virginia (31).
The Red Raiders are currently on a 16-match unbeaten streak in September,dating back to a 2022 loss to the University of Texas. They went 6-0-1 in september in both 2023 and 2024.
Following Sunday’s match, Texas Tech will open Big 12 conference play on Friday, September 27, at Baylor with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
