Teen’s Vintage Style Goes Viral After Louvre Burglary Photo
PARIS – A 15-year-old Parisian student’s distinctive 1940s-inspired style unexpectedly propelled him to internet fame after he was captured in a photograph taken on teh day of a brazen burglary at the Louvre Museum. The image, snapped by Associated press photographer Thibault Camus, shows the teen questioning security agents about closed gates moments before news of the attempted heist broke, adn has since garnered millions of views.
Pedro, as he’s been identified by Le Parisien, was unaware he’d been photographed until an acquaintance alerted him four days later.”She told me there were 5 million views,” he recounted, expressing his surprise. His newfound notoriety escalated when his mother informed him he was featured in The New York Times. “It’s not every day,” Pedro conceded. “People said: You became a star.”
The photograph’s virality, he believes, stems from the contrast between his classic attire and the modern setting. “I’m dressed more 1940s, and we’re in 2025. There’s a contrast,” he explained. However, his style isn’t a costume; Pedro dresses in a similar fashion daily, stating, “I like to be chic,” and even wears his signature fedora to school.
His aesthetic has already begun to influence his peers, with one friend recently appearing at school wearing a tie. Inspired by fictional detectives like Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot, Pedro has since made his instagram account public, jokingly hoping for offers to appear in films. “It would be very funny,” he said with a smile.
