Los Angeles police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl whose remains were discovered in the trunk of a Tesla registered to singer-songwriter David Burke, known professionally as D4vd. The discovery was made Monday, September 11, 2023.
The victim has been identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez. While the cause and manner of death remain undetermined, the Los Angeles Police Department stated there is likely criminal culpability related to the concealment of her body.
According to the LAPD, hernandez’s body was found on September 8, 2023, in the trunk area of Burke’s Tesla.
Police stated the vehicle had been impounded at Hollywood Tow for several weeks prior to the discovery. “the vehicle had been parked at the location from which it was towed for several weeks, so Ms. Rivas Hernandez may have been deceased for several weeks before the discovery of her body,” police said.
authorities were alerted to the case after receiving reports of a foul odor emanating from the vehicle.
“The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez’s death,” the LAPD said Monday. “As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body.”
The medical examiner reported Hernandez weighed 71 pounds and had wavy black hair. She was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal chain bracelet, and stud earrings at the time of her death.
