Hollywood Duo Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg to Adapt ‘Call of Duty’ into Feature Film
los Angeles – Filmmakers Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg are teaming up to bring the blockbuster video game franchise Call of Duty to the big screen. The project, backed by Paramount, aims to appeal to the game’s massive global fan base while attracting new audiences. Berg will direct and produce alongside his team, wiht sheridan co-writing the script and also producing with David Glasser.
Sheridan and Berg have a pre-existing collaborative relationship, having previously worked together on critically acclaimed films Hell or High Water, which earned four Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for Sheridan, and Wind River.
Deadline reported Paramount had been considering the pair for the adaptation as the summer, with Sheridan initially weighing whether to write or solely produce. He ultimately decided to take on both roles.
Both filmmakers bring relevant experience to the project. Berg is known for his military-focused work, including Lone Survivor, while Sheridan’s paramount+ series Lioness has demonstrated his ability to deliver compelling stories within the genre.
Call of Duty is the No. 1 bestselling video game series in the U.S. for 16 consecutive years, with over 500 million copies sold worldwide, reaching hundreds of millions of players globally.
Berg’s series credits include Painkiller and American Primeval. He recently wrapped production on The Mosquito Bowl, a World War II drama for Netflix, and is executive producing a friday Night Lights reboot.
Sheridan recently signed a five-year deal with NBCUniversal, which will see him depart Paramount in 2019. He is the creator of the hit Paramount series Yellowstone, and also Mayor of Kingstown, tulsa King, 1883, 1923, Lioness, and Landman, with the second season of Landman premiering next month. He also has the original thriller F.A.S.T., starring Brandon Sklenar, slated for release with Warner Bros in April 2027.
