CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is bolstering its computer science program with a new concentration in artificial intelligence, responding to the growing demand for AI expertise in the workforce. The addition aims to equip students with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Senior Malak Mahdy emphasized the importance of this new offering, stating, “Every career in computer science you need to have some kind of literacy in AI. Even if you don’t understand the foundations, you need to understand how its going to change your field. The job requirements are going to change and they already have, so equipping students with a concentration like this is definitely going to help them get a step ahead in the job market.”
University officials say the AI concentration is specifically designed to provide graduates with a competitive advantage and access to well-compensated positions across various industries. The program will focus on developing a strong understanding of AI principles and their practical applications, preparing students for roles that increasingly require AI knowledge.
