Tame Impala Debut ‘Deadbeat’ Album at Brooklyn Show

Tame Impala Launches ‘Deadbeat’‌ Tour with New York City Debut

NEW YORK CITY – Tame Impala kicked off its world tour last night in New York City, marking the live debut of tracks‍ from the band’s newly released album, Deadbeat. The‌ concert showcased a blend of the band’s psychedelic rock roots and evolving electronic sound, treating fans to both classic favorites and fresh material.

The show at Madison square Garden⁣ featured a setlist ‌alternating between older hits like “Breathe Deeper,” “Elephant,” ⁤and “Gossip” with new, dance-oriented songs including “Dracula,” “Afterthought,” and “My Old Ways,” the latter ‍enhanced by a psychedelic breakdown. Deadbeat, the follow-up ‌to 2020’s The Slow Rush, debuted at No. 4 on the billboard 200 chart last week.

Frontman Kevin Parker‍ addressed the crowd, acknowledging the⁢ excitement of a tour opener.”So, as ‍you ‍might know, this is the first night of the world tour,” parker said. “So that⁢ means it’s a‌ pretty‍ epic night, and there’s nowhere more epic than ‌to kick this shit off than New York City. It also means anything can happen, and by that I mean ⁣for the better, but also, anything can fall apart at any moment, just so you know. But it’s all very exciting and electric.”

The performance included an⁣ unconventional ⁣interlude where Parker was filmed walking offstage, ‌through⁤ a tunnel, and into a bathroom – the camera ⁣strategically ⁢focused on his‍ shoes‍ during a private moment. He then reappeared on a smaller platform at the back of the arena, surrounded by lamps and synthesizers, to perform the ⁢new songs ”Ethereal Connection” and “not My World,” at times while lying on his back.

The setlist built to a high-energy finish with “Let It⁣ Happen” and “Alter Ego,” the‌ latter being the only track from the band’s 2010 debut,‌ Innerspeaker. The encore featured the live debut of Parker’s Grammy-winning collaboration⁢ with Justice, “Neverender,” followed by the hit ‌”the ⁢Less⁢ I Know⁢ the Better” and the seven-minute Deadbeat closer, “End of Summer.”

Following fall shows‌ concluding‍ november 17 in Los Angeles,⁢ Tame Impala will embark on a spring tour of Europe ‌and the U.K., beginning April 4 in Porto, Portugal. Parker is also scheduled ‌to DJ for three shows in Australia in early December, opening for Justice.
