Tallon Griekspoor Beats Jan-Lennard Struff to Win Brussels Title

October 25, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Tallon Griekspoor secured his fourth ATP Tour title on October 25, 2026, by defeating Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open in Brussels, according to ATP Tour reporting.

The 30-year-old Dutch player dropped the opening set before mounting his third comeback of the tournament. Griekspoor previously overcame deficits against second seed Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals and third seed Francisco Cerúndolo in the semifinals. The victory in Brussels marked his first trophy since winning in Mallorca last June and improved his career record in ATP finals to 4-2, with two of those titles coming on hard courts.

Struff, at 36 years old, entered the final seeking his second ATP Tour title. The German advanced to the championship match after defeating sixth seed Zizou Bergs in the quarterfinals and top seed Arthur Fils in the semifinals. With his victory, Griekspoor extended his Lexus ATP Head2Head advantage against Struff to 4-0.

Griekspoor became the sixth Dutch player to capture at least four singles titles in the Open Era. He is also the first player from the Netherlands to win an indoor tournament since Martin Verkerk triumphed in Milan in 2003. The match lasted two hours and two minutes.

“Winning so close to home is very special, I’m only two hours from home and so it almost feels like being a local, plus I’ve spent a lot of time here,” Griekspoor said, according to the ATP Tour report.

Struff aimed to become the second-oldest champion on the circuit this season, trailing only Novak Djokovic, who won a title in Beijing earlier in October.

“It was another great fight, they’re always battles with Jan-Lennard, and I always try to stay strong… luckily I found some good tennis at the end of the match and was able to pull it off,” Griekspoor added.
