xiaomi 17 Pro Demonstrates Strong Durability, Features Unexpected Build
The Xiaomi 17 Pro, currently available โฃin China, recently underwent rigorous durabilityโค testing by American YouTuber Zack Nelson. The โคtests revealed impressive scratch resistance onโค the front โฃdisplay and a surprising material choice for the phone’s back panel.
The 6.3-inch smartphone, visually similar to the iPhone 17 Pro, distinguishes itself with โคa secondary screen located onโ the rear, adjacent to the camera module. The AMOLED screen โคis protected by Dragon Glass 3.0,โฃ which resisted scratches โupโค to Mohsโ hardness level 6. Visible scratches onlyโข appeared at level 7, placingโข it’s scratch resistance nearly โon par with โApple’s Ceramic Shield 2, which performed marginally better in testing.
Though,โ Xiaomi โคutilizes the Dragon Glass 3.0 only on the front of the device. The back panel, unexpectedly,is constructed from plastic rather than glass -โฃ a common feature in more affordableโ smartphones. While the plastic construction is more resistant to shattering than glass, it did exhibit scratches at the standard level 6 on theโ Mohs scale. The frame of the phone is made of anodizedโ aluminum.
Despite theโข plastic back, the Xiaomi 17โ Pro successfully passedโ the โฃJRE bend test, indicating overall structural integrity. A subsequent teardown of the device was also conducted, details of which are available โin Nelson’s video.
