German Men’s Hockey Bundesliga Season Begins with Exciting Match against Champions Rot-Weiss Köln

Even if there was no medal for the German men’s selection at the European Hockey Championships in Mönchengladbach, that did not dampen the enthusiasm for this sport in the hockey park. Now those responsible and active in the Bundesliga teams are hoping that this enthusiasm will also be reflected in the season that starts this weekend.

Bundesliga team Crefelder HTC offers the best conditions for this next Sunday. Because right at the start at 2 p.m. the German champions Rot-Weiss Köln will be guests. In addition, all Krefeld and interested people from the area get the opportunity to get to know this sport better at the open day and free entry. “We hope that the euphoria that we aroused at the World Cup and two European Championships will also enable us to win over one or the other interested person from another sport,” said Hans-Werner Satori, the Bundesliga club’s new team manager Tuesday at a press briefing.

After the men caused a sensation last year as a climber and return to the upper house of German field hockey and were unlucky to be eliminated in the play-off quarter-finals against Mannheim, the expectation is inevitably high. But sporting director Johannes Schmitz steps on the brakes on euphoria in advance: “Unfortunately, Jonathan Ehling left us for professional reasons, which is a great loss on a sporting and human level. Otherwise the group has remained the same. That’s why my expectations aren’t any lower. We don’t want to have anything to do with the relegation. I trust the team too. The goal of the quarter-finals is now being pushed into the background.” The starting position has changed compared to last year: “We are certainly no longer a promoted team that is neglected and underestimated. The opponents became aware of us because of our strong previous season. But I’m happy that it’s going to be against the champion right at the start.”

There is already a foretaste of the Rhenish duel on Thursday at 7.45 p.m. when the Cologne team are guests at Hüttenallee for the final test. The game was agreed before the Bundesliga schedule was finalized.

National player Niklas Wellen took a break after missing out on a European Championship medal and first had to digest his disappointment: “It’s not that easy to motivate yourself again. But I’ve had that quite a few times in my career. After that I always managed to find a new focus, it comes back. Now I’m happy to be back on the field with the boys.” He too hopes that more spectators will find their way to the Gerd-Wellen-Anlage than the regular crowd: “Here in Krefeld they’re trying to do this with clubs from other countries sports something to push. I think we’re on the right track here.” For him, Cologne remains the top favourite. Behind them are many teams to beat. Mannheim narrowly lost the final against Cologne. We had Mannheim on the brink of defeat and should have won. That was very instructive for us. You can learn a lot from that, especially a group like us. I’m curious to see how some guys deal with it and get new motivation from it. I am sure that we will reach the play-offs again.”

The CHTC women only start the championship season on Thursday in a week’s time with the away game at Bonn’s THV (8.30 p.m.). On Sunday they will play the last friendly of their preparation against DSD Düsseldorf at 3.45 p.m. on Hüttenallee.

FAs expected, Lena Pressler came to the end of the heat at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, where she finished 38th.

In 57.90 seconds, the 22-year-old stayed well above the ÖLV record of 55.94 she held. The U23 European Championship bronze medalist felt both the after-effects of an illness a few weeks ago and the effort required for the 15-step rhythm that she tried until the third hurdle.

“I was very nervous while warming up and was a bit scared because the opponents are so strong. When I was in the stadium, it was a great feeling, I was really happy, the atmosphere was really cool,” said Pressler. “I wasn’t satisfied with the time, but I’m happy that I was there. After the European Championship I was ill, you can tell.” Compared to a youth championship, the World Cup is a completely different experience. Femke Bol from the Netherlands was the best with a time of 53.39.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting Withdraws from World Championship 2023 Due to Personal Tragedy

Indonesian men’s singles badminton, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting definitely not participating World Championship 2023. Still in a grieving mood, Ginting didn’t have much time left for preparatory exercises so he decided to be absent first.

Launching from the official social media belonging to the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Twitter @INABadminton, the men’s singles coach, Coach Irwansyah himself, has confirmed the news.

“Ginting can’t appear World Championship because we are still in a state of mourning over the passing of our beloved mother,” said coach Irwansyah in PBSI’s official tweet last Thursday (17/8).

Ginting’s setback is certainly not a surprise for Indonesian badminton fans. Ginting’s beloved mother, Lucia Sriati recently breathed her last on Wednesday (9/8) in Bandung.

The funeral was held on Saturday (12/8) at Graha Sentosa Memorial Park, West Karawang. Currently, of course, Ginting is still in mourning and does not have the maximum opportunity to train to prepare for his performance at the 2023 World Championships.

In response to official news from PBSI regarding Ginting’s withdrawal from the 2023 World Championships, many fans have sent words of encouragement to Ginting. Missing the opportunity to compete in the World Championships is very unfortunate, but of course family is above all.

“No one is bigger than Mother, it’s okay Ting. take your time,” wrote @gam********* in the comments column on PBSI’s Twitter @INABadminton.

“Take your time, recover first. Losing a mother figure is tough. Ginting’s enthusiasm, after this we can definitely go higher, “ comment from @kota************.

“It’s okay Ginting, take your time. Hopefully given a lot of consolation and peace yes, ” write @ayan************.

“Its okeeee, take your time onik,” comment from @mei**********.

With Ginting withdrawing from the 2023 World Championships, it is most likely that the Badminton World Federation (BWF) will impose a fine of around $250 or 3.8 million rupiah on the Indonesian men’s singles. This is of course related to the invitation to the World Championships which are exclusive and the decision to withdraw which was made after the draw had been announced.

Apart from Ginting, Indonesia still has 2 of its best representatives in the men’s singles sector, namely Jonatan Christie and also Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.

Prize Money for World Championships in Budapest: Winners, Rankings, and Bonus Breakdown

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 11, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The International Association of Athletics Federations (WA) has published the prize money of the World Championships in Budapest on its official website. WA pays the same amount as at last year’s World Cup in Eugene, but then increased the amount and communicated that the penalty imposed on the Russian Federation for doping ensured the fund. The winners of the individual events receive 70,000 dollars, the silver medalists 35,000 dollars, and the bronze medalists 22,000 dollars. From the fourth to the eighth place, respectively, 16, 11, seven, six and then five thousand dollars are awarded. The winners of the relays will receive 80,000 dollars per team, the second-placed 40,000 dollars, and the third-placed 20,000 dollars. After them, the rankings are worth 16,000, 12,000, 8,000, 6,000 and 4,000.

Next Saturday, the World Championship in Budapest starts Photo: Budapest 2023 NZrt.

Anyone who achieves a world record gets a $100,000 bonus, but they do not pay for setting the world record. Sweden’s Armand Duplantis, who won the pole vault at last year’s World Cup with a record of 621 cm, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone of the United States, who was first in the women’s 400-meter hurdles with 50.68 seconds, and Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, who ran 12.12 seconds in the women’s 100-meter hurdles in the semifinals, could go to the to the till. Amusan then won in the final with 12.06, but in a tailwind of 2.5 meters/sec, which was larger than necessary for certification. The Nigerian athlete was recently found to have failed a doping test three times within a year, which is considered a doping emergency. Amusan appealed. WA said it needed to clarify, and if you do this, you can start in Budapest. Looking for a new challenge, McLaughlin-Levrone starts on the 400 meter flat with us, the tight schedule does not allow doubling. The prize money at the World Cup will be 8.498 million dollars, which is HUF 2.97 billion.

By way of comparison: at last year’s Budapest Water World Championships, the international association distributed 5.72 million dollars (about HUF 2.2 billion) between the medalists and the runners-up. The gold medalists received 20,000 dollars, the second 15,000, the third 10,000, the world record was worth 50,000 dollars. Kristóf Milák – who won the 100 and 200 meter butterfly (twice $20,000), the latter also with a world record ($50,000), and achieved two fifth places in two relays (twice $1,250) – a total of $92,500, 35.15 earned a million forints in the Duna Arena.
