Wolfenstein Trilogy Still Incomplete, Developer โConfirms
Stockholm, Sweden – Despite releasing several Wolfenstein titlesโค in โrecent years, including the standalone spin-off Youngblood, โdeveloper MachineGames โคhasโ revealedโค the core narrative arc ofโค the modern Wolfenstein series remains โคunfinished.โค Studio co-founder and head Jerk Gustafsson disclosed in a recent โNoclip documentary exploring the history of MachineGames that Wolfenstein: The New Order andโค Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus where always envisioned as part of a planned โขtrilogy.
The revelation confirms โขlong-held suspicions among โfans that theโ story of BJ Blazkowicz and theโ resistanceโ against the Nazi regime was not fully concluded.Gustafsson explained the studio “has โคalways visualized the series as a trilogy,” with a pre-planned trajectoryโ for BJ’sโค journey across all three โฃinstallments, outliningโ events for “what happens in the first part, in the second part and the third part?”
The New order introduced a more personal element to BJ’s fight, centering on hisโค relationship with Anya, whileโ The New Colossus โ expanded the scope to include a broader resistance movement and the formation of โคBJ’sโ own family.According to Gustafsson, the story isn’t over, stating it is vital โข”to note that weโ are not yet finished with Wolfenstein:โ we have even more โstory to tell.”
Wolfenstein: Youngblood, released after The Newโค Colossus, featured BJ’s daughters โฃas protagonists in a cooperative experience, โbut did not advance the overarching narrative established inโ the first two games. MachineGames’ recent focus has been on Indiana Jones and the great Circle,โข but the confirmation of a planned third Wolfenstein title signals a potential return to the franchise and the continuationโ of BJ Blazkowicz’s story.
