Write a title for this contentSetback for Marie-Therese Sporer. The ÖSV technician does not make it into the squad. She criticizes coaches and officials.
After a season that was characterized by injury, surgery and the hard way back, Marie-Therese Sporer has had the next low blow these days. She was not nominated for the ÖSV women’s World Cup squad.
Sporer speaks up
She is now speaking up and reflecting on her social media channels. She explains the crisis season 2022/23 to her fans. But Sporer also criticizes severely: “There was also a new team of supervisors and coaches. New managers. I never really felt seen or understood. I wanted to subordinate myself and forgot – to listen to me. To follow my path. In my pace and with my philosophy.”
The 26-year-old denounces having received too little support on the way back after her serious shoulder injury. She obviously sees the trainers and officials of the ÖSV as partly to blame for the end of the squad.
But Sporer does not shy away from self-criticism either, saying: “My results did not match my ability this season.” And: “I analyzed which screws needed to be turned. Already during the season I knew what I wanted and needed to change. Courage to face the risk of injury again. Trust in myself and my body.”
For the time being, she has to turn these screws on her own: “I have to and will prepare for the new season with an environment I have created, work through the past in a targeted manner and try screw by screw to get the clockwork running again. Skiing means a lot to me a lot. The mountains, the freedom, the adrenaline, the skiing family and the privilege of being able to practice my passion.” Additional hurdle: Before preparing for the World Cup winter, she has to go under the knife again and have an operation on her injured shoulder. A minor operation on the knee is also necessary.
