Microsoft Launches Real-Time Translation API, Breaking down language Barriers
REDMOND, WA – Microsoft has unveiled a new Live Interpreter API built on its Azure Speech Translation service, promising to revolutionize multilingual communication with instant, seamless translation across 76 languages and 143 regional language settings. The new feature eliminates the need for users to manually select languages, automatically detecting and translating speech in real-time.
The APIS core strength lies in its “Uninterrupted Language Recognition” capability, allowing for fluid conversations without pauses for language selection. Microsoft highlights the low latency of the translation, aiming to provide a more natural experience than traditional human interpreters. A key differentiator is a “personal sound” feature designed to maintain the speaker’s unique tone and style during translation.
Microsoft envisions a broad range of applications for the Live Interpreter API, including call centers, online meetings, educational settings, and live sales broadcasts. The technology allows for uninterrupted conversation flow, removing the friction of navigating language change menus.
Developed on Microsoft’s Azure infrastructure, the Live Interpreter API is currently available to developers via a quick start guide. End-users will access the technology through applications and services that integrate the API, rather than directly.
This launch marks a meaningful step forward in Microsoft’s commitment to accessible communication, potentially opening new avenues for global collaboration and understanding.
