NYC Freeze Warning: First Freeze, Snow Possible – NBC New York

by Emma Walker – News Editor November 10, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

New York City could see its first snowfall of the season as a ‌potent Arctic front plunges temperatures into the single digits by late this week, potentially bringing flurries as early as Friday, November 15, 2025.The National Weather service warns of a notable shift in conditions, moving from mild temperatures to a deep freeze within a matter of days.

the approaching system, expected ‍to‌ impact the tri-state area beginning⁣ Thursday, November ⁤14, 2025, will usher in not⁣ only the possibility of snow but also dangerously cold wind chills. While the initial precipitation will likely ⁤be rain, a rapid temperature drop could transition it to snow, especially in the⁢ higher elevations ⁢adn northern suburbs. The chance of accumulating snowfall remains uncertain, but the frigid air mass itself poses risks ‌of hypothermia and frozen pipes.

Following the passage of ‍the system, the tri-state area is forecast to dry out, with temperatures⁣ rebounding slightly through the weekend. However, the cold air will linger, keeping highs well ⁤below seasonal averages.
