KIEV – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday (12/26/2022) he said he asked for help India apply the “peace formula”. This was revealed by Zelensky in a phone call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The conversation comes at a time when India, which has not explicitly condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, is seeking to strengthen trade ties with Moscow, while Western nations are introducing new measures to limit war funding of the Russia.

“I had a call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and wished him a successful G20 presidency,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter. “It was on this platform that I announced the peace formula and I now count on India’s participation in its implementation,” he continued, as quoted by Reuters.

Last month, Zelensky called on the Group of 20 major world economies to adopt Ukraine’s 10-point peace formula and end the war.

India’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment asking for details of the phone call between Modi and Zelensky.

India has emerged as the second-largest buyer of Russian oil after China, bringing a barrel of Ural crude this month well below the $60 price ceiling agreed by Western countries.

The country’s foreign minister said that as the world’s third largest consumer of oil and gas, where income levels are not high, India should look after its interests and called Russia its “stable and proven partner “.

Reuters also reported last month that Moscow had sent India a list of more than 500 products for potential delivery, including parts for cars, airplanes and trains, as sanctions strained Russia’s ability to keep industries running. vital.

India has also sent Russia a list of Indian products for access to the Russian market, according to the foreign minister, as it seeks to balance the bilateral trade that is now tilting towards Russia.

In a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this month, Modi reiterated his call for dialogue and diplomacy to end the conflict in Ukraine.

FLY – Western sanctions imposed on Russia over the Ukraine conflict have had a major impact on the European economy, while the United States (US) is the only actor to benefit from these restrictions.

This statement was made by Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov on Saturday (12/24/2022) amid ongoing fighting in Ukraine.

Speaking to the Asharq News newspaper, he believes Western sanctions have helped Washington achieve its goals. “Their supply of oil and gas to the European market has increased,” Siluanov said.

“US energy shipments, however, have proved costly for Europeans, resulting in skyrocketing inflation and reduced competitiveness for European businesses,” Siluanov said.

According to him, “Western sanctions and the explosion that damaged the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines at the end of September should supply Europe with more expensive liquefied (natural) gas than America.”

“America wins, Europe loses,” he said.

Moscow has labeled the sabotage a terrorist attack, arguing that the United States benefited most from the blast.

While Washington has denied any involvement, Secretary of State Antony Blinken described the incident as a “tremendous opportunity” for Europe to move away from Russian energy.

KIEV – Attack Russia in the recently reconquered city of Kherson Ukraine killed at least 10 people, wounded 58 and left bloodied corpses on the street.

But a pro-Moscow official responded by saying Ukrainian troops had launched the attack in an attempt to blame the Russian military.

Russia controls most but not all of Kherson region. Kyiv-appointed local governor Yaroslav Yanushevych said on national television that the death toll had risen to 10, Ukraine’s Interfax news agency reported.

But Vladimir Balance, the Russian-appointed governor of the region, said Kiev had ordered troops to attack the city.

“This is a disgusting provocation with the clear aim of blaming the Russian military,” he wrote on Telegram ReutersSunday (25/12/2022).

Yuriy Sobolevskyi, deputy chairman of the regional council, said a missile landed near a supermarket near the city’s Freedom Square.

“There are civilians there, everyone living their own life, running their own business,” he said, observing a girl selling phone SIM cards, others unloading goods from trucks and passers-by.

Reuters was unable to independently verify Kherson’s report.

Ukraine has retaken Kherson, the only regional capital held by Russia since the February 24 invasion last November. Since then, Kiev says Russian troops have shelled the city across the wide Dnipro River.

BUDAPEST – Hungarian Prime Minister (PM) Viktor Orban said the prospects for ending the conflict between Ukraine and Russia lay in the hands of the United States (US), which is Kiev’s main backer.

“Ukraine can only go to war as long as the United States supports it with money and weapons,” Orban said in an interview with the Magyar newspaper Nemzet on Saturday.

“If Americans want peace, there will be peace,” he said.

Since the conflict broke out in Ukraine in late February, Washington has provided Kiev with billions of dollars in military and financial assistance, as well as military intelligence.

Lethal aid deliveries include state-of-the-art hardware such as HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, M777 howitzers and combat drones.

It was recently announced that the Ukrainian military will also receive the Patriot air defense system.

Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House and promised, “We’ll be with you as long as you need.”

Russia has long insisted that a “proxy war” is actually being waged against it in Ukraine by the United States and NATO.

Orban was also asked how he felt about Hungary’s labeling “pro-Russian” in the European Union (EU) for its continued economic cooperation with Russia, criticism of the bloc’s anti-Moscow sanctions and reluctance to send weapons to Kiev.

“We are pro-Hungarian people. We are on the side of the Hungarian people in the Russian-Ukrainian war,” said the Hungarian prime minister.

He explained that Hungary wants Ukraine to remain sovereign and that Russia poses no threat to Europe, but believes that breaking all economic ties with Moscow is against his country’s interests.

FLY – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has explained what Moscow will do with its key ally, Belarus.

According to Galuzin, the combined Russo-Belarusian military forces played only a defensive role. On Saturday (12/24/2022), the diplomat also dismissed speculation that troops could be deployed in the Ukrainian conflict.

Speaking to RIA Novosti, Galuzin noted: “The task of the joint Russian-Belarusian group of troops is, if necessary, to fight off potential aggressors, if the territory of our ally Belarus is attacked.”

At the same time, he added, “it is incorrect to raise questions about the possible use of these forces in special military operations in Ukraine.”

The diplomat explained that according to the military doctrine of the Russian and Belarusian Union State, if a member state is attacked, such a move will be considered as an invasion of the organization as a whole.

“The relevant response steps in this case remain at the discretion of the Russian and Belarusian political and military leaderships,” he said.

The joint force was first announced in early October by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, citing increased NATO military activity on the country’s borders.

They are said to comprise around 9,000 Russian troops, with around 70,000 Belarusian service members making up the bulk of the force.

Earlier this month, the Belarusian president said the two countries’ armed forces were “training as one force, one army”.

FLY – Ukrainian UN envoy Sergey Kislitsa tweeted an image of the United States (USA) flag with stars and stripes rendered in his country’s yellow and blue colors on Wednesday.

Though seen as an attempt to express US-Ukrainian solidarity, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described it as a reflection of Kiev’s subordinate status in the report.

Kislitsa tweeted a photo from when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Washington on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian leader met with US President Joe Biden and delivered a speech before US lawmakers, calling for more support in the Kiev-Moscow conflict.

“They will stay together as long as necessary,” the tweet reads.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reacted by calling it the “new flag of Ukraine”.

“The thing that we’ve been talking about for years, and nobody believed it, happened. Congratulations!” she said.

Moscow believes that the government that came to power after the 2014 armed coup in Kiev, as well as its successors, have bowed to Washington’s goals to the point of acting contrary to their own national interests.
