Total Lunar Eclipse โto Peak Tonight, Visible Across India,โ Pakistan, and China
Skywatchers across India, Pakistan, and China are โคpoised โto โฃwitness a โtotal lunar eclipseโข tonight, withโข the peak occurring at 11:48 โคpm.The eclipse is expected to last for 48 minutes, offeringโค a rare and โmesmerizingโค celestial spectacle, โฃaccording to Nehru Planetarium.
A lunar โคeclipseโค happens when the โฃEarth โpasses directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting โits shadow โคon the lunar surface and โคfrequently enough giving it โฃa reddish tint, โคcommonly known as a ‘Blood Moon.’ Unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses are safe to viewโ with the naked eye and do not require special filters.โ Observers can even continue normalโ activities like eating and drinkingโค during the โevent.
“People can watchโ it easily. It will not harm theโค eyes. You can even โeat and drink during it,” stated Gupta of โคNehruโ Planetarium,as reported โขby ANI.
The eclipse willโค unfold โin phases. In Delhi, the penumbral phase – theโ initial, subtle dimming – will โฃbegin at 8:58 pm,followed by the partial eclipse around โค9:57 pm. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon movesโฃ fully into theโ Earth’s umbra, the darkest part ofโค its shadow. Sunlight โฃrefracted through Earth’s โคatmosphere illuminates the Moon dimly โฃduring totality.
Lunar eclipses occur only during โฃthe full โคmoon phase and are visible from half of Earth. This event provides a unique chance โขfor observation and appreciation of our solar system’s dynamic interplay.
