Virginia Field Hockey to Host Miami (OH) in NCAA โฃchampionship โขFirst Round
CHARLOTTESVILLE, โคVa. – โคThe University โof โคVirginia field hockey โฃteamโข will โขbegin โits quest โคfor a national โchampionship Saturday, hosting Miami (OH) inโค the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The โฃcontest isโ scheduled โfor 1 p.m. ET at UVA’s Turf Field.
This marks the Cavaliers’ โคseventh appearance in the NCAA Championship Round of 16, having previously advanced to the semifinals in 1997-98, 2009-10, 2019, and 2023. Virginia, currentlyโข ranked No. โฃ5 in the NFHCAโข poll, boasts a perfect 13-0 all-time record against the RedHawks, including a 1-0 victory in their last meeting in Octoberโ 2024โค in Charlottesville. Theโ winner will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals toโ face either โNorthwestern or Yaleโ onโ Sunday,โ Nov.16.
Virginia has consistently โbeen a national contender, securing โฃan NCAA Tournament berthโฃ in โnine of โthe last ten seasons, with theโข exception of the 2020-21 season impacted byโ the COVID-19 โpandemic.
