Atlanta Man Found Dead in Florida After Meeting App Date; Inquiry Ongoing
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Clay County Sheriff’s office is investigating the death of Lamont anderson, a 24-year-old Atlanta resident, whose remains were discovered near the St. Johns River in Fleming Island,Florida,in May. Anderson traveled to Jacksonville in early April to meet an individual he connected with through a dating application.
Anderson’s family reported him missing after losing contact. His consistent communication regarding his plans raised immediate concern among loved ones. The family attempted to verify information provided by the person Anderson intended to meet, but inconsistencies emerged.
While police have ruled out the individual as being directly involved in Anderson’s death, the investigation remains open. Authorities are seeking information regarding Anderson’s activities between April 1 and April 7 and are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for credible leads.
As of now, the cause of death remains undetermined, and investigators are exploring all possibilities, including homicide, suicide, and accidental death.
Family members describe Anderson as a creative and affectionate individual with a passion for knitting. They also disclosed that he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was undergoing treatment. Anderson’s mother expressed frustration with the initial pace of the investigation.
