Family Files Claim Against ‍Phoenix Following Disputed Death Inquiry

PHOENIX – The‌ family of Suzanna Delgado has filed a claim against the city of Phoenix alleging‌ negligence in the investigation of her death, citing concerns over the medical‌ examiner’s‍ handling of the case and ⁢a perceived lack of ⁣thoroughness by authorities. The claim comes as ⁣the family publicly voices their anguish and‌ demand for accountability, stating they have⁤ been ⁤”living a nightmare” since Delgado’s‍ death.

Attorney Sarah Fazal, ‌representing‌ the Delgado family, alleges ‍the medical examiner overlooked certain injuries and failed to address concerns raised by the family. “Every case deserves equal opportunity – no matter what race, no ⁤matter ‍what neighborhood you’re from,” Fazal⁣ said. “And every life matters.” Fazal has called ‍on ‌Phoenix police‍ to ‍reopen the investigation and for city and county⁢ leaders ‍to meet with the⁣ Delgado family. She also urged anyone with data to submit‌ an anonymous tip at 773-997-5443.

Sylvia Delgado, Suzanna’s mother, described her daughter as a loving mother of two young children. “She was not ⁤perfect,” Sylvia Delgado said through tears, “But she ⁤was ⁢trying, and she deserved⁤ a⁣ fair investigation into what⁢ happened to her.” She recounted her dismay at what ⁣she perceived as dismissive treatment from ⁤police and hospital staff when she requested a⁢ closer examination of her daughter’s neck. “That really broke me,” Sylvia Delgado recalled. ⁤”It told me that my daughter didn’t even matter to anyone there.”

Suzanna⁤ Delgado’s sister, Vanessa Vasquez,⁤ echoed ‍the sentiment, stating her sister was ⁣a devoted mother and a reliable friend.⁢ “Since the day she died, our family’s been living a nightmare,” Vasquez said. “Not only as⁤ she’s gone, but because people ⁢who were ⁢supposed to find out what happened to⁤ her didn’t do their jobs.”

The family hopes legal action ⁣will ⁤prevent similar inadequate ⁢investigations in the⁤ future.‌ “We’re here because my sister’s life matters,” Vasquez stated.”She ⁣deserves a real investigation and the truth – and not ‍assumptions ‌and shortcuts. ⁢Her kids⁢ deserve⁤ to grow up knowing‍ that ‌people cared enough to fight for their mom, ‍my‌ sister. We want clarity,⁤ we want accountability and we want justice.”

The claim filed against the city details the family’s grievances⁣ and seeks a thorough re-examination of⁢ the circumstances surrounding Suzanna delgado’s death.

Anyone with information is encouraged to submit an anonymous tip by calling 773-997-5443.

Ohio Identifies Skeletal Remains Found in Columbus After 36 Years

Central Ohio ‍Cold Case Solved: ⁤Man ⁣Found in 1991 Identified Through⁣ DNA ‌Technology

Columbus, OH – After more than three⁣ decades, the identity of a man whose remains were discovered in franklin County in 1991 has been confirmed as Ernest Emerson Carter, thanks to advancements in DNA technology and a collaborative effort between local and state agencies. The breakthrough, announced today, brings closure to a decades-old mystery.

Carter’s remains were initially found in 1991, but traditional methods of identification proved unsuccessful. The case was revisited utilizing modern forensic techniques, including ⁤DNA analysis through the‌ Ohio⁢ Bureau of ⁢Criminal ⁤Inquiry’s (BCI) Project LINK, an initiative comparing ‌unidentified remains DNA with that of missing persons. These initial searches ‍yielded no matches.

Further DNA testing conducted by BCI also‌ failed to generate leads. The Porchlight ⁤Project, a non-profit organization funding forensic genealogy for families of missing⁣ and murdered individuals,⁣ then ‍stepped in, providing‌ funding for⁤ testing by Othram, a‍ Texas-based forensics technology company, last year.

Genealogists working with BCI were ⁤able to build a family tree‍ and ultimately identified a male ⁣relative. Subsequent DNA confirmation established the remains as‌ those⁣ of Ernest Emerson‍ Carter. A photograph from ⁢June 1948, provided by ‍the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, shows Carter second from the left.

“We believe each person is worthy of dignity and respect,” Franklin County Coroner Nathan Overmire said in ⁢a statement. “Our patients ⁣can no longer advocate⁤ for themselves, ⁤so we must on their behalf.I am ⁤extremely proud of ‍the compassionate, talented staff who ‌worked on ‍this case from ‍my office, ⁣BCI⁣ and ‌our community partners. Together, ‍we were able to utilize science to solve⁢ a mystery.”

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost lauded ⁤the “public-private partnership” that led to the identification. “Solving a cold case takes teamwork, technology and ‍tenacity – all of which were on display in⁣ this case,” Yost stated. “This type of public-private⁢ partnership has a direct impact on so many and brings real results to loved ones.”

The identification highlights the growing role of forensic genealogy‍ in⁢ resolving cold cases and providing answers⁤ to families ⁣who have long sought closure.

Wisconsin Killer Ed Gein: Plainfield Farmhouse, Cemeteries & Netflix Series

by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor October 7, 2025
written by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor

PLAINFIELD, Wis. – Renewed interest in the case of Ed Gein, fueled by Netflix’s “monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” and subsequent true crime fascination, is drawing attention to the locations ‌central to his crimes in⁤ rural Wisconsin. While the series focuses on Dahmer,Gein’s earlier, horrific‌ acts laid groundwork for the public’s ‍understanding of serial killers and body desecration, and his former home and the cemeteries he frequented are now points of morbid curiosity.

Gein’s dilapidated farmhouse,⁢ located at 888 E. Highway 67 in Plainfield, remains ⁢a privately owned residence. Though⁤ not open to the public, the property⁢ continues to attract visitors and has become a focal ⁣point for those interested in the dark history of the region. The house itself is largely unchanged from the ⁤time of Gein’s arrest in 1957, though it underwent ‍some structural repairs after being purchased ⁢in 1968. The property’s continued existence serves as a chilling‌ reminder of the crimes committed within its walls.

Beyond⁣ his home, several cemeteries in the surrounding area were targeted by Gein, who exhumed bodies to create trophies and household items.

Plainfield ⁣Cemetery, located at the entrance to the village, was one of the primary sites of Gein’s grave robbing.

Approximately nine miles north of Plainfield,in Almond, lies Spiritland Cemetery, near the intersection of County Highways BB and D. Gein also frequented this location to exhume bodies. A 2008 photograph shows the cemetery’s quiet, rural setting.

Hancock Cemetery, located at N3800 4th Ave. in hancock, Wisconsin, is‌ another site linked to Gein’s activities, ⁢according to true crime resources like cultofweird.com and houseofgein.com.

Oklahoma Police Officer Throws Elderly Man to Ground; Death Traced to Assault

by Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor October 5, 2025
written by Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor

OKLAHOMA CITY – Lich Vu, the elderly man seen on body camera ‌video being thrown to the ground by an Oklahoma City police officer during a traffic stop last October,⁢ has died, according to⁤ reports from multiple news outlets and community leaders. He was 73.

Vu died in‍ his sleep at his Oklahoma City home, confirmed Thuan Nguyen, president of the Vietnamese American heritage Community of ⁣Oklahoma. In the days prior to his death, Vu reportedly⁤ expressed forgiveness toward the officer involved and‌ a readiness to accept God’s will, Nguyen said.

The incident ‍occurred Oct. 27 following a minor vehicle collision. Body camera footage released by police shows Vu arguing with Officer Jonathan Gibson over a ‍traffic ticket for an improper U-turn. Vu declined to sign the ticket and exited his vehicle, at which point the officer warned him he⁢ woudl be arrested.

“I’m ready to go to jail,” Vu responded, according to the video. The argument escalated, with ⁣Vu telling the officer, ⁣”You shut up.” The lawsuit filed by Vu and his wife alleged that Vu then lightly‍ tapped Gibson ⁤on the outside of his bulletproof vest with the back of his hand and gestured for him to be quiet.

The video shows ⁣Gibson subsequently ⁤taking vu to the ground and handcuffing him.

Vu sustained severe injuries, including a traumatic brain bleed, a ⁤skull fracture,‌ facial fractures, and⁢ a broken neck, requiring weeks of hospitalization and rehabilitation, according to his attorney.

Vu and his wife initially sued Gibson, the city of Oklahoma City, and Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond in⁤ April, alleging ‍excessive force. The lawsuit against Drummond was later dropped in June. The city, in an August court filing, maintained the officer’s actions were constitutional and consistent with departmental policies.

The timing of the incident occurred less than a month before Drummond, a Republican, announced his candidacy⁣ for governor and received the endorsement of the oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police.

Vu’s ‍daughter, Teresa Vu, shared a statement on social media following his death: “I no he is ⁤not suffering anymore. He ‌lived a rough life⁤ and tried ‍to fight through until the very end.”

Vu had been returning home from church at the time of the traffic stop, Nguyen said.

Columbus Judge Dismisses 1994 Rape Case Due to Lack of Investigation

Columbus Rape ‌Case Dismissed: Judge Cites Decades of Police⁤ Inaction

COLUMBUS, OH – A 1994 rape ‌case in Columbus has been dismissed after a Franklin County judge found that police failed to adequately investigate the crime for nearly three decades, violating the legal standard of “reasonable diligence.” The suspect, identified in June 2024⁤ through⁤ genetic genealogy after an⁢ initial “John Doe” indictment in 2013, will not be prosecuted.

Judge david Brown ruled that while the initial‌ indictment was filed ⁤within the statute ⁤of limitations, ‍the “minimal efforts” made by Columbus police detectives between 1994 and 2024 were insufficient. The decision, detailed in court documents, effectively ends the prosecution of⁤ the suspect, identified through DNA matching⁢ to evidence collected at the scene of the⁤ July 1994 assault.

“Though, the laws of Ohio and our separate Constitutions do not permit ‍a ‘crockpot’ approach to criminal investigations: ‍the government cannot ‘set it and forget‍ it,'” Brown wrote in his decision.

The case hinged on a DNA sample⁤ collected from a⁤ pillowcase ⁣following the assault reported by ⁢a 20-year-old woman. Court records indicate detectives also possessed facts regarding a potential suspect living in ⁢the ⁤area at the time,⁣ but no further investigative steps were taken.

Brown specifically noted that a simple neighborhood canvas “would have possibly closed⁣ the examination in ‍weeks not decades,” and that a DNA sample could have been obtained and matched in 1994, ⁣rather‍ than 2024.

Attorneys for⁣ the suspect had argued the prosecution‍ was ⁢barred by the statute of limitations. brown agreed that while the ⁤initial indictment ⁣was timely, the ‍prolonged lack of investigation undermined the case. He also highlighted the loss of three key witnesses who investigated the‌ case in 1994.

The Franklin County prosecutor’s office has the option to appeal Brown’s decision to the Tenth District Court⁣ of appeals.
