Rodrigo Villegas Roasts José Antonio Neme at Viña del Mar 2026

Chilean comedian Rodrigo Villegas drew both applause and boos during his performance at the Viña del Mar Festival on Tuesday night, after referencing television personality José Antonio Neme in his routine. This followed a similar moment earlier in the festival when fellow comedian Stefan Kramer imitated Neme, a segment that was well-received by the audience.

Villegas’s commentary centered on Neme, host of the Mega program “Mucho Gusto,” and alluded to past criticisms leveled against Villegas during previous appearances at the Quinta Vergara amphitheater. According to reports, as a photo of Neme appeared on a large screen, the audience responded with a mixed reaction of cheers, shouts and jeers.

“I like Neme. I love him even more when he shows up like this, with that face like he’s been smelling something bad all day, like he’s missing something… joy! Joy!” Villegas reportedly said, eliciting laughter from some attendees. The moment quickly spread on social media, with users sharing videos and reactions to the comedian’s remarks.

The inclusion of Neme in Villegas’s act marks the second time the television personality has been the subject of humor at this year’s festival. Kramer’s imitation on the opening night was considered a highlight of his performance. Villegas himself ultimately won over the notoriously critical “Monstruo” – the festival audience – with a routine he described as filled with “jokes about butts, farts, and peaks,” and a revival of the “Blondon Boys” segment. He was awarded both the Silver and Gold Gaviotas (seagull statues), the festival’s top honors.

However, audience reception to Villegas’s performance was reportedly more lukewarm than Kramer’s, with some social media users expressing criticism. The incident underscores the potential for strong reactions when comedians reference public figures at the Viña del Mar Festival, a venue known for its unpredictable audience and high-stakes atmosphere.

The festival continues with performances scheduled throughout the week, including sets by Jesse & Joy, NMIXX, Juanes, and Mon Laferte. The event is being extensively covered by Mega, which is offering full routines and shows on its streaming platform, Mega Go.

Stefan Kramer’s Viña del Mar 2026 Routine: Mixed Reactions & Social Media Backlash

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor February 23, 2026
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

Stefan Kramer received a mixed reception during his fourth performance at the Viña del Mar Festival on Sunday night, earning both accolades from the audience at the Quinta Vergara and criticism on social media. The Chilean comedian and impressionist took to the stage at 12:30 AM, basing his monologue on personal anecdotes and incorporating impressions of numerous characters, according to reports.

Kramer was awarded both the Silver and Gold Gaviotas, the festival’s awards recognizing popular performers. However, online reactions painted a different picture, with some viewers labeling his routine as “fome” – a Chilean slang term roughly translating to “boring” or “lame” – and questioning the quality of his impressions. Some social media users suggested his performance was tailored to the older demographic expected in the audience, given the presence of Gloria Estefan and Matteo Bocelli on the night’s lineup.

“Kramer’s routine is 100% for the audience at Quinta Vergara, that’s why it doesn’t connect with people at home, that’s why there’s so much karaoke and interaction with them,” one user commented on X, formerly known as Twitter. Another user posted, “They’ve given awards for less.”

Critics described the routine as repetitive, self-centered, and uninspired. One user noted that the most successful part of Kramer’s performance was his political humor. As of early Monday morning, the festival continued with additional performances scheduled.

Stefan Kramer previously performed at the Viña del Mar Festival in 2008, 2018, and 2020. According to CNN Chile, his latest appearance at the festival drew over 2.2 million viewers.
