Rodrigo Villegas Roasts José Antonio Neme at Viña del Mar 2026

February 24, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Chilean comedian Rodrigo Villegas drew both applause and boos during his performance at the Viña del Mar Festival on Tuesday night, after referencing television personality José Antonio Neme in his routine. This followed a similar moment earlier in the festival when fellow comedian Stefan Kramer imitated Neme, a segment that was well-received by the audience.

Villegas’s commentary centered on Neme, host of the Mega program “Mucho Gusto,” and alluded to past criticisms leveled against Villegas during previous appearances at the Quinta Vergara amphitheater. According to reports, as a photo of Neme appeared on a large screen, the audience responded with a mixed reaction of cheers, shouts and jeers.

“I like Neme. I love him even more when he shows up like this, with that face like he’s been smelling something bad all day, like he’s missing something… joy! Joy!” Villegas reportedly said, eliciting laughter from some attendees. The moment quickly spread on social media, with users sharing videos and reactions to the comedian’s remarks.

The inclusion of Neme in Villegas’s act marks the second time the television personality has been the subject of humor at this year’s festival. Kramer’s imitation on the opening night was considered a highlight of his performance. Villegas himself ultimately won over the notoriously critical “Monstruo” – the festival audience – with a routine he described as filled with “jokes about butts, farts, and peaks,” and a revival of the “Blondon Boys” segment. He was awarded both the Silver and Gold Gaviotas (seagull statues), the festival’s top honors.

However, audience reception to Villegas’s performance was reportedly more lukewarm than Kramer’s, with some social media users expressing criticism. The incident underscores the potential for strong reactions when comedians reference public figures at the Viña del Mar Festival, a venue known for its unpredictable audience and high-stakes atmosphere.

The festival continues with performances scheduled throughout the week, including sets by Jesse & Joy, NMIXX, Juanes, and Mon Laferte. The event is being extensively covered by Mega, which is offering full routines and shows on its streaming platform, Mega Go.
