Rehab Industry Veteran Secures $1.1 Million Seed Funding to Disrupt Physical Therapy with New Software
AUSTIN, TX – August โฃ12, 2025 – โTayla โCannon, a content creator and former healthcare professional, has โreceived a $1.1 million seed โinvestment โคfrom Slow Ventures’ $60 million Creator Fundโ to developโฃ Rebuildr, a software platform aiming to โขrevolutionize the โคphysical therapy and rehabilitation industry. Theโ funding, announced tuesday, โคmarks Cannonโ as one of โthe โfirst โcreators โto benefit fromโ Slow Ventures’โฃ initiative โfocused on backing impactful online content creators โฃand โฃinfluencers.
Cannon initially began sharing โฃher insights on social media in โฃ2024, โขorganically building โa following โbefore transitioning it into aโฃ full-time profession. “There was no strategy, no roadmap, and โcertainly โno business modelโข behind it,” she โstated. Her success, โขshe credits, stemsโฃ from authenticity and genuine engagementโ with her audience.
Asโ her brand rapidly expanded, Cannon recognized the need to develop business acumenโ and content strategy – โคskills not traditionally taught inโฃ healthcare. โฃ”We’re trained to help โpeople, not to buildโฃ brands,” she explained. A pivotal moment came when she identifiedโข herself as โthe limiting factor inโฃ her business’s growth, prompting โher to build a team to facilitate scaling.
Rebuildr represents a shift โfrom traditional,โ localized โคreactive care to a “proactive, โholistic mode,” combining consumerโ solutions,โ clinicalโข expertise, โeducation, and software delivery at scale. Cannon was introduced to Slow Ventures thru โa networking โขevent in Austin, initially โwithโฃ noโ intentionโฃ of seeking capital. โคA conversationโฃ with investor Megan Lightcapโ sparked a vision forโ an even largerโ scope โfor rebuildr.
“The conversation sparked โคsomthing,” Cannon said, adding that Slow has helped her “imagine a version of โฃRebuilderโ that’s even bigger” than her initial โplans.
Rebuildrโ will enter a market โthat includes existing personal trainer software like TrainHeroic, Trainerize, andโ Everfit. Cannon’s ambition is โtoโฃ make high-quality rehabilitation accessible โคglobally, removingโ barriers related โฃtoโค location, insurance, and appointment limitations. “I want to makeโ high-quality rehab accessible anywhere in the world, โnot limited by geography, insurance,โข or 30-minute appointments,” โขshe said.
