Lombardy⁤ Region Announces Fall Vaccination Campaign with Focus on Flu & RSV, Open Day ⁢at San Siro

Lombardy is launching its 2025/26 influenza vaccination campaign alongside continued immunization efforts against respiratory ⁤Syncytial Virus (RSV). Health officials ‍recommend getting⁢ the flu vaccine by mid-November.

A key component of the RSV campaign targets children born from April 1st, ‍2025, with 65,000 doses available. Last year’s initiative⁤ successfully vaccinated 65,049 children under one year old,achieving 81% coverage and demonstrably reducing emergency room visits and hospitalizations.

An informational‍ meeting, ‘Vaccination, a health possibility for fragile patients’, will be held on Thursday, October 2nd, at‍ 9:30 AM at the‍ Auditorium Testori, Palazzo Lombardi (Piazza Città di Lombardia 1). Flu ⁣vaccinations will be available on-site. The region⁢ continues its communication campaign using the hashtag #ditritoalvaccino and the ‘Vaccination’ award,‌ recognizing healthcare professionals and facilities for their vaccination promotion efforts.

A significant open​ day⁤ event will take place on Saturday, october 11th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (San Siro) in⁢ Milan. Citizens aged 12 and older can receive the seasonal flu vaccine in⁣ a dedicated area.

Access to the San Siro vaccination‌ event will be by reservation only through the Lombardy Region’s ‘Book’ portal (https://prenotasalute.regione.lombardia.it/sito/). Along with ​the flu vaccine, other recommended vaccines -​ Anti Papillomavirus (HPV), Meningococcus,‍ Herpes Zoster, and Pneumococcus – will also be offered based on age and health conditions.

According to Welfare ​Councilor Guido Bertolaso,⁤ “We wanted to bring prevention to an iconic place to bring more and more people closer to‍ vaccination, combining emotion, awareness and public health.”

the campaign is organized by the Lombardy Region, ATS Metropolitan ⁣City, Asst ‍Fatebenefratelli Sacco,⁤ Asst Santi Paolo and Carlo, and Asst Grande Metropolitan Hospital Niguarda.

A​ strong network of over 1,200‌ general practitioners and pediatricians of free choice are collaborating to ensure widespread access to the vaccine. Vaccinations have already begun in residential Social Healthcare Facilities (RSA) as of October 1st, with doctors and⁤ ASL staff administering‌ the ‍doses.

Starting October 6th, vaccinations will be available⁣ to recommended individuals at family doctors’ clinics, pediatricians’ offices, and participating⁢ pharmacies. Special ‍attention will be given⁣ to those‍ over the age of sixty.

This year, citizens​ will also have‌ the option to receive both‌ the ​flu‌ vaccine and the anti-SARS-cov-2 vaccine concurrently at designated⁣ vaccination centers within⁤ the ASL Toscana Centro’s public hygiene and ⁤nutrition units. Appointments for combined vaccinations can be booked through the regional “Booking vaccine” website: https://www.uslcentro.toscana.it/index.php/sedi-territoriali. Additional vaccination points ⁣will be ⁣established in ‍social health districts‍ and hospital‌ facilities for healthcare professionals.

Last season (2023-2024), the ASL Toscana Centro saw a notable uptake in vaccinations, administering 417,759 flu doses – an increase from the 389,499 doses given in the 2022-2023⁢ campaign. Breakdowns‍ by area include: ‍Pistoia (43,918 doses),⁢ Valdinievole (27,299⁤ doses), Empolese (58,777 doses), Florence (106,158 doses), North West ‌(51,310 doses), Fiorentina South East (48,759 doses), Mugello (15,936 doses), and⁣ Prato (65,566 doses). ‌110,179 anti-COVID vaccine doses were also administered.

“The vaccination campaign is a ‍essential⁣ appointment for citizens and for all healthcare professionals,” stated⁣ Lorenzo Roti, Health Director⁣ of the ASL Toscana Centro. “Because it represents‍ an effective⁣ prevention tool,with positive repercussions on the entire community.‍ Also this year we​ invite the population​ to maximum adhesion, to‍ protect itself, reduce the risks of contagion and contribute to collective well-being.”

The appeals court, however, found that the lower court erred in dismissing Jeune’s case. Citing established federal case‌ law, the court ⁣resolute that Jeune’s ⁤beliefs could ‍be considered religious. “A plaintiff…who believes that she was created in God’s image and ​that her body‍ is a temple‍ of⁣ God…expresses ​a religious belief,”⁣ the ruling stated. Mpox Virus Detected in ‍Pierce County Wastewater, Health Officials Say

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. – A new strain of the⁤ mpox virus, specifically clade I, has been detected in wastewater samples collected ⁢in Pierce County on September 24th, according to the Washington State Department⁤ of Health and ‍the⁢ University of Washington. While no cases of clade I mpox have ⁣been identified in Pierce County⁣ residents, the finding has prompted⁣ increased monitoring and collaboration between the Tacoma-pierce County Health department, the centers ⁣for Disease Control and‍ Prevention (CDC),‍ and state health officials.

The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is expanding⁤ wastewater testing‌ as an early detection method, ‌supplementing traditional⁤ clinical reporting. Healthcare providers⁣ in the area are being urged ​to consider mpox in patients presenting with a characteristic rash and to inquire about recent travel history, with all confirmed cases required to be reported to the Health Department.

Mpox spreads through close physical ⁢contact, including sexual contact⁤ and interactions within households. Symptoms typically include ‍a rash – appearing⁢ as bumps, blisters, or ulcers⁢ – and may be preceded by flu-like symptoms. While ⁢most individuals recover within two to four weeks, the illness can be more severe for children, pregnant individuals, and those with compromised immune systems.

Residents experiencing ‍a new rash or mpox-like symptoms are advised to avoid skin-to-skin ⁣contact and seek medical attention.
