Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Cancer mention Solo ready to replace Bali for the draw venue for the 2023 U-20 World Cup which FIFA canceled last weekend.

FIFA canceled the draw for the 2023 U-20 World Cup which was supposed to take place on Friday (31/3) in Bali. The cancellation was because the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster refused Israel’s arrival to the Island of the Gods.

FIFA’s cancellation of the U-20 World Cup draw has raised various speculations about the continuation of the tournament.

Many parties, including foreign media, think that Indonesia could lose host status. In addition, PSSI will also face severe sanctions from FIFA if it fails to hold the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

In order to defuse the situation, Gibran wanted to take the opportunity for Solo to replace Bali as the draw venue for the U-20 World Cup. However, Gibran is still waiting for directions from PSSI and Menpora.

“I don’t know [kelanjutan drawing]. If there is an order [jadi tuan rumah drawing] from PSSI, from Menpora, I’m ready,” said Gibran as quoted from detik.com.

Regarding the continuation of preparations, Gibran said that it was running smoothly. Currently Solo is still waiting for the arrival of the lawn sewing machine next week.

Solo is one of six cities to host the 2023 U-20 World Cup besides Palembang, Jakarta, Gianyar, Surabaya and Bandung.

The Manahan Solo Stadium is planned to be the venue for the final as well as closing of the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

Group stage draw or draw 2023 U-20 World Cup which was canceled by FIFA was seen as a heavy blow by the Exco PSSIArya Sinulingga.

FIFA has decided to cancel the draw for the 2023 U-20 World Cup which was scheduled to take place in Bali, March 31. According to Arya, the postponement of the draw has been a major blow.

Arya said that so far PSSI did not know for sure how FIFA’s expression and impression would be regarding Indonesia’s situation as the host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup. However, one thing is certain, the cancellation of the draw on March 31 has been a serious blow to Indonesia as the organiser.

“When Pak Erick met FIFA [nanti]definitely knows all the expressions [FIFA soal kondisi saat ini]. We will talk about it, we will convey what happened, the condition of our nation.”

“Hopefully there is a way out. What is certain for us as organizers is quite heavy. With timeline available [yang sudah terjadwal sebelumnya]so resigned,” said Arya in the CNN Indonesia TV Political Show.

At the event, Arya again stated that FIFA had not yet issued an official letter regarding the cancellation of the 2023 U-20 World Cup draw.

Because there has been no official letter, as a result so far there has been no decision regarding the implementation of the next drawing plan after the cancellation of the event on March 31. The cancellation of the drawing procession also affected the subsequent preparation stages.

Apart from that, PSSI is currently trying to prevent the cancellation of the U-20 World Cup draw from spreading to a more serious situation, namely the removal of the status of the U-20 World Cup.

Because of that PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir will go to Zurich to meet with FIFA. This information was conveyed by Plt Menpora Muhadjir Effendy.

“I think Pak Erick will go to Zurich for further consultations with FIFA. This is not the highest level, yesterday only one of the PSSI representatives met,” said Muhadjir.

“At least FIFA understands Indonesia’s position in this context, so this is not a matter of being rejected or protested, but related to the constitution,” said Muhadjir.

Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming hope Indonesia will still be the host 2023 U-20 World Cup.

Manahan Stadium in Solo was chosen as one of the six candidates venue the venue for the 2023 U-20 World Cup. Therefore Gibran hopes that the 2023 U-20 World Cup can still be held in Indonesia according to the original plan.

The Manahan Stadium in Solo has even been plotted for the final match. Gibran also considered that the U-20 World Cup would have a positive impact on Solo.

“This is not only a football problem but also the rotation of the economy in the city of Solo. If there is a World Cup and we get the chance to host the finals, it will be extraordinary,” Gibran said as quoted by Antara.

Gibran stated that his party was currently waiting for developments from FIFA and PSSI regarding Indonesia’s status as the host of the World Cup. Gibran stressed that Solo had prepared well.

“I’m just waiting for the official news from FIFA and PSSI. All I know is the cancellation drawingin Bali it is.”

“Solo is ready and very ready. FIFA has carried out the final inspection. Solo is also ready to host the final, it is ready,” said Gibran.

Indonesia’s status as host for the U-20 World Cup is in question after FIFA’s decision to cancel the draw for the U-20 World Cup which was supposed to be held on March 31 in Bali.

Exco PSSI, Arya Sinulingga, said that the rejection of Israel’s presence in Bali was the reason for this FIFA decision.

Participant 2023 U-20 World Cup is complete. The following is a list of 24 national teams that have qualified for the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.

South Korea and Japan are the last two teams to ensure they qualify for the U-20 World Cup. This happened in line with their success in reaching the semifinals of the U-20 Asian Cup on Sunday (12/3).

South Korea beat China 3-1 in extra time. Sung Jin Young and Choi Seok Hyun were the goalscorers in extra time after the two teams drew 1-1 in normal time.

Meanwhile, Japan followed South Korea’s steps a few hours later. Japan beat Jordan with a score of 2-0.

After a goalless draw in the first half, Japan stomped in the second half. Goals from Isa Sakamoto and Naoki Kumata led Japan to qualify for Indonesia.

With the completion of the quarter-finals of the U-20 Asian Cup, it means that the 24 teams participating in the U-20 World Cup are complete.

After the 24 participants are complete, the U-20 World Cup will now await a draw. The drawing will take place on March 31.

Chairman of PSSI Erick Thohir said FIFA has the potential to cross out the stadium that is used as an arena 2023 U-20 World Cup. He conveyed this after holding a meeting with FIFA representatives at the GBK Arena, Jakarta, Monday (6/3).

“What I want to convey from the results of the discussion, out of the six playing fields in each city, there are four fields that will be re-audited on March 21-27 by FIFA,” said Erick who is also the Chair of the LOC or local committee for the U-2020 World Cup. 202023.

“And what surprised me, there was a note from FIFA. FIFA has the right to drop six match field stadiums if they are not ready, to four fields. The training field can also be reduced. There is no replacement option, only the option of removing it from six down to four ,” Erick added.

With 15 days remaining before the FIFA audit, Erick stated that he would move quickly to meet FIFA’s requirements. However, he was reluctant to explain in more detail which stadiums were deemed not to have met the criteria.

“I decided on Saturday, Sunday and Monday I will visit all the stadiums. I will also ask our representatives LOC, FIFA, and representatives of the central and regional governments to go down together,” said Erick.

“Don’t let March 21, there are only 15 days left, man, there are parties who blame ‘This PSSI is not good’. I want to re-knit, there is still time, this is a commitment from the central and regional governments, including us PSSI,” continued Erick.

Erick ensured that his party would not look for other venue options if FIFA eliminated the stadiums for the 2023 U-20 World Cup venues. He emphasized that PSSI’s priority was to make six stadiums suitable for holding the world-level junior tournament.

“[Prioritas] the six. So it is important for us to cooperate with the local government. We will phone the governor and regional leaders before I visit on Saturday, Sunday and Monday,” he said.

The six stadiums that will be used to host the World Cup are Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Jakarta), Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium (Palembang), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung), Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya), Manahan Stadium (Solo), and Captain I Wayan Dipta (Bali).

Chairman of PSSI Erick Thohir target Indonesian U-20 National Team qualify for the group phase of the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

“We will prepare as well as possible. I hope our main target today is to qualify for the group first. That is the goal and this requires preparation for mental focus and excellent training,” said Erick at the 2023 U-20 World Cup press conference, Tuesday (28/2 ).

According to Erick, the target of breaking through to the knockout phase could also be realized with the support of Garuda Nusantara supporters during the tournament. According to him, the positivism of the fans will add to Indonesia’s strength to appear in front of the public itself.

“I hope the Indonesian fans will be an extra breath. This 2×45 minute match comes at a higher level than us. Many countries have a higher level, we need an extra breath,” he said.

Erick said that the success of the 2023 U-20 World Cup would be a provision for Indonesia’s future if it wants to host the senior World Cup. He is optimistic, Indonesia can hold the world’s highest football party like Qatar and other countries.

“Preparation for the U-20 World Cup is preparation for the forerunner of whether we are ready for the World Cup. That is why the implementation and national achievements must go hand in hand, no one can be left behind,” he said.

“This U-20 World Cup is a process so that we have a track record and standards that can be accepted by the world,” he added.

The 2023 U-20 World Cup will be held in Indonesia from 20 May to 11 June. This is the first time Indonesia has hosted an official FIFA event.

Indonesia is the second Southeast Asian country to host the junior World Cup. Previously, Malaysia had held a similar event in 1997.

There are six locations that will be used for the U-20 World Cup. The venues are Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (Jakarta), Gelora Bung Tomo (Surabaya), Si Jalak Harupat (Bandung), Gelora Sriwijaya (Palembang), Manahan (Solo), and Captain I Wayan Dipta (Gianyar).
