Solo’s Preparedness to Replace Bali in Drawing the U-20 World Cup, as Stated by Gibran

Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Cancer mention Solo ready to replace Bali for the draw venue for the 2023 U-20 World Cup which FIFA canceled last weekend.

FIFA canceled the draw for the 2023 U-20 World Cup which was supposed to take place on Friday (31/3) in Bali. The cancellation was because the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster refused Israel’s arrival to the Island of the Gods.

FIFA’s cancellation of the U-20 World Cup draw has raised various speculations about the continuation of the tournament.

Many parties, including foreign media, think that Indonesia could lose host status. In addition, PSSI will also face severe sanctions from FIFA if it fails to hold the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

In order to defuse the situation, Gibran wanted to take the opportunity for Solo to replace Bali as the draw venue for the U-20 World Cup. However, Gibran is still waiting for directions from PSSI and Menpora.

Regarding the continuation of preparations, Gibran said that it was running smoothly. Currently Solo is still waiting for the arrival of the lawn sewing machine next week.

Solo is one of six cities to host the 2023 U-20 World Cup besides Palembang, Jakarta, Gianyar, Surabaya and Bandung.

The Manahan Solo Stadium is planned to be the venue for the final as well as closing of the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
