Brazil vs Argentina presented in the quarterfinals 2023 U-17 World Cup. This is the Albiceleste’s moment to avenge their defeat in the U-17 Copa America several months ago.

Brazil advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Ecuador 3-1 in the last 16. Argentina is still progressing after eliminating Venezuela with a striking score of 5-0.

The two countries then had to face each other in the quarterfinals. Brazil vs Argentina was held at the Jakarta International Stadium, Friday (24/11/2023) evening WIB.

“Obviously this is an El Classico match. Both teams definitely want to win and we will give our best,” said the Argentina U-17 captain, Claudio Echeverri.

“In South America we felt bitter because they beat us. However, now we will take revenge at the World Cup,” he stressed.

Echeverri was the top scorer in the 2023 U-17 Copa America with five goals. This record is the same as two other Brazilian players, namely Kaua Elias and Rayan.

2023 U-17 World Cup: France Under Threat of Disqualification Due to Unauthorized Players

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

A total of two national teams have experienced disqualification from the tournament U-17 World Cup.

Currently, France is said to be under threat of disqualification from the 2023 U-17 World Cup after using unauthorized players.

The player in question is Yanis Issoufou, who is considered to have administrative problems at the 2023 U-17 World Cup. During the group stage, Issoufou was a starter twice and a reserve once.

Issoufou was considered problematic because several months earlier he had strengthened Niger U-17 in the 2022 African U-17 Cup Qualifiers.

This Africa Cup of Nations qualification is directly related to the U-17 World Cup. These qualifications will culminate in the final round of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. The U-17 Africa Cup of Nations itself is a qualifying round for the U-17 World Cup.

FIFA reportedly banned the same player from playing for two countries for the same tournament. Issoufou’s appearance at Niger U-17 and France U-17 is still in the same tournament series.

So far there has been no response from either FIFA or France U-17 regarding rumors of Issoufou being an illegal player and also the threat of sanctions.

However, to date there are around two national teams that have been disqualified from the U-17 World Cup. The two countries’ teams are Guinea and Russia.

Guinea was punished by CAF for two editions of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and the U-17 World Cup for fielding two ineligible players in the 2019 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania, Aboubacar Conte and Ahmed Tidiane Keita.

Conte and Keita are considered to have stolen their lives. Initially the two players were said to have a birth year of 2002. But after investigation, Conte and Keita had a birth year of 2001.

At that time, Guinea were runners up in the 2019 African U-17 Cup after losing on penalties to Cameroon. Before qualifying for the final, Guinea beat Nigeria in the semifinals.

As a result of this punishment, Ghana cannot appear in the 2019 U-17 World Cup in Brazil. Guinea’s position was replaced by Senegal. Senegal advanced to Brazil because in the group stage they were unable to compete with Guinea who finished runners up.

Apart from Guinea, Russia U-17 also received a ban or disqualification from FIFA from appearing at all levels, including the U-17 World Cup in March 2022.

Russia U-17 was punished by FIFA because the country attacked Ukraine. However, in October 2023, FIFA lifted the punishment and allowed Russia U-17 to appear in international competitions.
