wise County Woman Missing for Over Two Weeks; Sister Fears Foul Play
Wise County, TX – The search for 48-year-old Monica Sanford continues, with her family expressing growing fears for her safety after she disappeared more than two weeks ago. Sanford was last seen leaving with her ex-boyfriend on the evening of December 23rd, according to her sister, Darla hastings. The case has prompted a $5,000 reward for details leading to her location, as investigators focus on a person of interest currently in custody on unrelated charges.
Sanford’s disappearance is notably concerning due to her close relationship with her daughter, who was not contacted on her birthday – an anomaly according to Hastings. The lack of dialogue and the circumstances surrounding her last known whereabouts have led Hastings to believe her sister may be in danger. “I don’t think my sister is alive anymore, because if she was, she woudl not ignore us,” Hastings stated. “she wouldn’t not reach out. She would not miss Destiny’s birthday.”
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they have a person of interest in custody, but have released no further details regarding their identity or connection to Sanford. Hastings reported being told that only Sanford’s ex-boyfriend returned home the day after they left together.
Authorities have not filed any charges in connection with Sanford’s disappearance. Darla Hastings has enlisted the aid of Texas EquuSearch in the ongoing search, hoping for any information that could lead to her sister’s return or provide closure for the family.
Anyone with information regarding Monica Sanford’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Wise County Sheriff’s Office. Hastings pleaded with the public, “No matter how insignificant you think it might be, it may be what they need to find her and locate her and bring her back. And if nothing else, it gives us closure.”
