The Baden Bundesliga clubs SC Freiburg and TSG Hoffenheim have very different seasons behind them. Accordingly, the objectives for the new season differ.

The season hasn’t even started yet when SC Freiburg has already suffered its first defeat. Only on the transfer market and against the glorious FC Barcelona – and yet the pain is great in Breisgau. After moving from Noah Darvich.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Signs Promising Young Talent Kelven Frees

First in the NLZ

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has signed defensive talent Kelven Frees from the U19s from Fortuna Düsseldorf. The 18-year-old central defender has received a long-term professional contract in Kraichgau, but will initially appear there in the A-Youth Bundesliga for the U19s. The 2.02 m tall native of Düsseldorf was seeded in the West squadron last season and made 18 appearances for Fortuna (1 goal). Dusseldorf ended up in a strong fourth place.

“A big dream has come true for me,” says Frees about his move to Transfermarkt. “After ten years of hard work, with many ups and downs, I have reached my goal and signed a long-term professional contract with TSG. I would like to say a big thank you to my family who have stood by me through the years, through good times and bad, to my coaches who have supported me along the way, and to my friend and advisor Daniel, who has guided me along the way my new club and his family. He has been a strong support for me and my family over the past seven months and has given me full support on all points. I would also like to thank Fortuna Düsseldorf for the good time and will always carry the club in my heart. I’m from Düsseldorf and I will always be a Düsseldorfer, but after ten years I had a stronger feeling of doing something new and changing. I am looking forward to the new task and my new goals.”

Those responsible in Düsseldorf, Christian Weber (Sports Director Professionals) and Stefan Volmershausen (Sports Director NLZ), had tried very hard to keep home-grown Frees alive until the very end. Frees has had top ratings in the U19 Bundesliga in numerous statistics, is considered both robust and agile and is able to open the game – a modern central defender. Scouts from other clubs had previously observed him for a long time, but TSG presented convincing arguments for the transfer. Volmershausen said: “We would have loved to continue working with Kelven and have also shown him a very clear and interesting perspective within the club, but he has clearly expressed a desire to change on several occasions. Since we were able to find a very good solution for us with TSG Hoffenheim, we agreed to the change request. We thank Kelven for his commitment over the past few years and wish him all the best for the future.”

Agent Daniel DS adds: “Kelven had a great time at Fortuna Düsseldorf. He didn’t decide against the F95, he opted for something new. Fortuna behaved professionally and very fairly in the interest of the player and towards the wishes of the player and the family. You can only take your hat off to that. They didn’t put any obstacles in his way and wished him all the best for his future and the next steps in his career. The chance Kelven got at TSG is very special for the player and the family. A big thank you also goes to TSG and its employees, who worked so hard for Kelven and smoothed his way to Hoffenheim.”

In addition to superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, other well-known footballers play in the Saudi Arabian Pro League, which is still insignificant in terms of sport – and now Roberto Firmino too. But which club did he sign with?

The next football star is moving to Saudi Arabia: Roberto Firmino is moving to Al-Ahli in the Saudi Arabian Pro League, as the club announced late Tuesday evening. The 31-year-old Brazilian does not cost the club a fee because his contract with Liverpool expired at the end of June. However: Like other top players who moved to Saudi Arabia this summer, the former Bundesliga professional at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim should have secured a handsome salary for his three-year contract.

Firmino, who moved from Hoffenheim to Liverpool in 2015 for 41 million euros, meets goalkeeper Edouard Mendy at the club from Jeddah. The Senegalese international goalkeeper had previously joined Al-Ahli from Chelsea.

Some soccer stars now in Saudi Arabia

Since the move of the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to the Kingdom of Al-Nassr, other stars have signed contracts in the still insignificant league. Croatia’s Marcelo Brozovic also joined Al-Nassr, while Frenchmen Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté and Portuguese Jota signed with Al-Ittihad. Kalidou Koulibaly from Senegal will wear the jersey of Al-Hilal from now on. Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard will also join Al-Ettifaq.

“Simple Math: Bundesliga Relegation Battle Heats Up with Surprising Winners and Losers”

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com May 7, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Berlin (dpa) – The simple Berlin calculation was even easier for Pal Dardai in the morning after the effort against relegation. Three wins in three games, the Hertha coach said on Sunday, and the crisis club, which was recently written off to the second division, might even be saved directly.

It’s just that simple mathematics in the Bundesliga is such a thing, the results of this 31st game day at the bottom of the table were not necessarily to be expected.

The winners

Four of the six clubs in the bottom third celebrated victories, some of which were quite surprising. FC Augsburg in 13th place can feel like winners of winners after beating Champions League contenders 1. FC Union Berlin 1-0. “It wasn’t salvation yet,” warned manager Stefan Reuter. With a six-point lead over the relegation place, that should have been it for FCA. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, in 14th place, has four points more than 16th VfB Stuttgart thanks to the 3-1 win over the cup finalist Eintracht Frankfurt. Here, too, the reticence in the wording: “We have taken a big step, but it’s not over yet,” said Christoph Baumgartner.

The fans of the new Table 15. FC Schalke 04 probably celebrated the 3:2 on Friday in Mainz on Sunday. Just like the Hertha supporters the 2:1 on Saturday against Stuttgart. Both victories were initially good for the feeling – at Hertha because of the still depressing place in the table, at the Royal Blues because of the tough remaining program, which continues with the game at FC Bayern Munich on the next matchday.

«We haven’t achieved anything yet. Except that we’re still in the race to stay up,” said Schalke coach Thomas Reis. “But we know that we still have to take several steps and get more points.” In Berlin, Dardai explained: “You still have to win two of three games, then you might be in the relegation.” His team “worked out a minimal chance” and: “If you win three, you might stay in the league.” The match against the currently penultimate VfL Bochum on the penultimate match day promises great excitement.

The losers

The mood at the Revierclub fluctuated between defiance and sheer desperation on Saturday afternoon after the 2-0 defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach. “It’s not just about us, it’s about the club, the staff and the whole city,” said the bitterly disappointed captain Anthony Losilla. “We can only do it if we play with passion. I still believe in it, but it’s a matter of the head.” Nobody lost faith in Stuttgart, even if the fall on the relegation place in Berlin was painful. “For us, this is a result that hurts, but will not knock us down,” said coach Sebastian Hoeneß, who is about to meet again that fits perfectly into the Bundesliga script.

The rest of the program

The 40-year-old has only been the Swabian coach since April, until the end of last season he was a trainer at TSG, which Stuttgart meets on the last day of the game. Since the beginning of February, Hoffenheim’s coach has been Pellegrino Matarazzo, who had to leave Stuttgart in October due to lack of success. Who shoots whom in the 2nd league? The Kraichgauers could have been saved long ago.

On the coming match day, Bochum will have to stand up to FC Augsburg, who can also mathematically make it a perfect place to stay in the league. “We now want to put the lid on in Bochum,” said FCA goalkeeper Tomas Koubek. An Augsburg victory would also benefit FC Schalke. After the trip to Bayern, the Royal Blues have to play against Frankfurt and RB Leipzig. That reads much more exhausting than the games played by Hertha, which travels to 1. FC Köln before the Bochum game and is a guest at VfL Wolfsburg at the end.

“For everyone’s first time”: SC looking forward to Turin second leg

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 13, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Freiburg (dpa) – SC Freiburg is ready for the next highlight against Juventus Turin in the Europa League. The people of Breisgau underlined this in the 2-1 (1-0) home win against the new bottom of the Bundesliga soccer team TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Coach Christian Streich’s team has been struggling in front of the opposing goal for weeks now compared to the first phase of the season before the World Cup break. But the result is still satisfactory thanks to Ritsu Doan’s late winner on Sunday.

That’s another reason why striker Michael Gregoritsch wants to keep the recent criticism as small as possible and prefer to focus on the second leg against the old lady from Italy on Thursday (6.45 p.m.). “We now have 45 points and we’re just talking about how few chances we create,” said the Austrian. That’s true. “But we are in the table where other teams would like to be.” But that doesn’t just apply to the Bundesliga table. Because last year’s finalist is still involved in the DFB Cup and in the round of 16 of the Europa League anyway.

After the mandatory task against Hoffenheim, Gregoritsch and Co. dream of progressing on the European stage. And after the close 1-0 defeat in the first leg, Freiburg still have every chance. “It’s the first time for almost everyone to play against such a team at home,” said Gregoritsch.

According to his own statement, his coach never thought about the second leg against Turin before the Hoffenheim game. This is going to change. Especially since Streich is worried about his regular central defenders. Philipp Lienhart had to leave the field early in the game in Turin due to a thigh injury and was absent against Hoffenheim. He could return as the injury is said to be non-structural. National player Matthias Ginter also held his thigh in the state duel. “I don’t think it’s that bad. It was a blow,” Streich carefully gave the all-clear. “We have to wait until the adrenaline is out of the body.”

The good news: Manuel Gulde would also be ready for the highlight against Turin. The recently seldom used defender proved that against TSG.
