‘Tron: Ares‘ Ending Hints at Sark‘s Return, Fuels ‘tron 4’ Possibility
Los Angeles, CA – the release of Tron: Ares has sparked speculation about the future of the franchise, with the film’s post-credits scene and final moments strongly suggesting a potential storyline for a fourth installment. The ending centers on Ares, the titular character, and a lingering image of Quorra, a key figure from Tron: Legacy, raising questions about thier connection and the potential for a larger narrative exploring the evolution of artificial intelligence within the Grid.
Tron: Ares concludes with Ares holding a photograph of Quorra, the isomorphic algorithm who, at the end of Tron: Legacy, crossed over into the real world with Sam Flynn. their current whereabouts remain unknown within the context of Tron: Ares. Simultaneously, a mid-credits scene reveals Julian, the creator of Ares, exhibiting behaviors reminiscent of his grandfather, Sark, the program previously defeated by Tron. This suggests julian might potentially be undergoing a digital transformation into a reincarnation of Sark, potentially setting up a conflict for a future Tron film.
The fate of Tron 4 remains unconfirmed by Disney, but the creative team behind Ares has indicated a willingness to continue the story. Director Joachim Rønning explained to a fan ahead of the premiere, “Quorra is made differently. She comes from the Grid…She’s different than Ares,in regards to the minutes they can live in the real world…” Writer Jesse Wigutow further stated to SlashFilm that, from a storytelling perspective,”there’s an enormous amount left on the table to work with,” but ultimately, the decision rests with disney. “The lords above have to feel like there’s more to be had on a corporate level,” Wigutow said.
Tron: Ares is currently playing in theaters.
