Wyndham to Expand Presence in Colombia‘s Coffee Axis with New Armenia Hotel
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, a global hospitality leader managing a portfolio of 25 brands including Super 8®, Days Inn®, Ramada®, and Wyndham®, is planning a new hotel in Armenia, Quindío, within Colombia’s Coffee axis region. The project, ”Dazzler by Wyndham Armenia,” is being positioned as a key investment prospect and a response to growing tourism demand in the area.
The Coffee Axis is a prominent tourist destination in Colombia, contributing nearly 6% to the regional GDP and supporting over 8,300 registered tourism operators. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its Coffee Cultural Landscape, the region is experiencing increasing visitor numbers – nearing one million annually – creating a critically importent need for expanded hotel infrastructure. According to Proesas CEO, the region currently faces a “very large deficit of beds.”
The Dazzler by Wyndham Armenia project is structured as a trust rights sale, allowing investors to participate with an investment of 69.9 million pesos and generate income through hotel operations. Diplomat,a hotel management and marketing company with 32 years of experience and a prior working relationship with Wyndham on similar projects,will operate the hotel.
Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2027, following the achievement of the project’s break-even point.Sales commenced in early November. The development is projected to generate approximately 400 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase, and an additional 30 jobs during the operational phase.
Constructora Proesas General Manager, Luis Carlos Duque, emphasized the project’s meaning, stating it represents “a gateway to new investment opportunities in Quindío, with the support of a global brand and the quality seal of leading Colombian companies.”
The hotel’s architectural design, led by Andrés Felipe Duque Gómez, focuses on ”elegance and functionality,” aiming to create a serene and agreeable experience. Sustainability is a key component of the design,incorporating features such as a water/energy efficient heater system with recirculation,solar panels for common areas,an electric vehicle charging station,and a solar tree.
