Italian government lifts arms embargo on UAE after improvement in Yemen situation

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com April 17, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Italian government announced on Monday that the arms embargo on the UAE, which it imposed in 2021 due to Abu Dhabi’s participation in the Yemeni conflict, had been lifted after the situation improved in the country. Yemen.

In January 2021, Italy permanently withdrew permissions to export missiles and bombs to Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Because of the participation of these two countries in the Yemeni conflict, pursuant to a law dating back to 1990 that prohibits the export of weapons to countries engaged in armed conflicts.

“The scenario continued to develop positively: since April 2022, military activities in Yemen have slowed down, and diplomatic activity has witnessed a strong acceleration,” the Italian government said in a statement issued after a government meeting.

And while the statement noted the UAE funding granted to Yemen “to achieve stability and reconstruction,” it made it clear that the Italian government had decided not to consider the UAE a country involved in an armed conflict, and therefore able to obtain Italian weapons.

In its statement, the Italian government did not mention Saudi Arabia, which has been targeted by the ban since January 2021.

And Yemen, the poorest country in the Arabian Peninsula, has been witnessing a war since 2014 between the Houthis, who are supported by Iran, and forces loyal to the internationally recognized government, which is supported by a Saudi-led military coalition.

And on Monday, 3 planes transported about a hundred prisoners who were being held by the coalition led by Riyadh to Yemen, the day after a major prisoner exchange operation that lasted for three days, which included about 900 prisoners from both sides of the Yemeni conflict, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the coalition.

Sheikh Khalid Appointed as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Mansour as State Vice President in the UAE

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The president conductedEmirati Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Wednesday, appointed new appointments that included several responsibilities in the country, as he appointed his son, Sheikh Khaled, as crown prince in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, while appointing his brother, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour, as Vice President of the State.

The official Emirates News Agency (WAM) said that the president, in his capacity as ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, also appointed his two brothers, Sheikh Tahnoun and Sheikh Hazza, as deputy rulers of the emirate.

Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan holds the position of National Security Adviser, while Sheikh Hazaa bin Zayed Al Nahyan holds the position of Vice President of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

These are the most prominent political appointments under the President of the State since he took office in May 2022, following the death of his brother, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“WAM” said in a tweet on Twitter, “In his capacity as the ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the President of the State issues an Emiri Decree appointing Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed as Crown Prince in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed used to hold this position himself before he became president.

WAM added, “The President of the State issues a decision appointing Mansour bin Zayed as Vice President of the State alongside Mohammed bin Rashid.”

Sheikh Mansour holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister and is the owner of the English football club Manchester City, while Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum holds the position of prime minister and is the ruler of Dubai.

And the agency continued, “In his capacity as the ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the President of the State issues two Emiri decrees appointing Hazza bin Zayed and Tahnoun bin Zayed as deputy rulers of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”

In addition to the position of National Security Adviser, Sheikh Tahnoun holds several positions in the wealthy oil country, including chairing the board of directors of its sovereign fund, and he was recently behind the UAE’s campaign to reform its relations with Qatar, Turkey and Iran.

Since Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed assumed the presidency of the Emirates, eyes have been focused on the vacant position of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. His son, Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed, is a member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has always been seen as the country’s strongman and de facto ruler, who stands behind its diplomatic ascent years ago, even before he assumed the presidency.

Sheikh Mohammed became crown prince in November 2004, and he is the third son of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the Emirates. He also held the position of Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

Israel and the UAE Have Reached an Agreement to Implement the Free Trade Agreement

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 27, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Sunday Israel and signedThe UAEThe two countries signed a customs agreement in 2020, which is the last stage before the free trade agreement, the first of its kind between the two countries, enters into force.

“The customs agreement signed today will lead to the entry into force of the free trade agreement between Israel and the UAE,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, referring to the agreement concluded in May 2022, describing the agreement as “historic.”

Netanyahu, who attended the signing ceremony of the agreement between Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and the Emirati ambassador to Israel, Mohammed Al Khaja, indicated that the free trade agreement “will reduce customs duties, cost of living, and stimulate business between Israel and the UAE.”

In a statement to Agence France-Presse, Lior Hayat, a spokesman for the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicated that the customs agreement is the “last stage” before the free trade agreement “enters into force on April 1.”

And the Israeli Foreign Ministry statement stated: “As soon as the free trade agreement enters into force, about 96 percent of the goods will have their customs duties reduced or canceled,” noting that the step will allow “Israeli companies to participate in tenders launched by the UAE government.”

For its part, the UAE embassy in Israel announced the signing of a customs cooperation agreement that will activate the free trade agreement between the two countries. She indicated that the Gulf state expects “through this agreement to double intra-trade, improve the standard of living, and reduce commodity prices.”

In the year 2022, the value of commercial exchanges between the Hebrew state and the UAE exceeded $2.5 billion (about 2.3 billion euros), excluding information products and services, which places the Gulf state 16th in the list of Israel’s largest trading partners, according to the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

Israel and the UAE reached an agreement to normalize relations in 2020, as part of a series of agreements concluded with US mediation, called the “Abraham Accords”.

Angelina Jolie hired an assassin so she wouldn’t resort to suicide

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 3, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Tell me – International press reports revealed shocking stages in the life of Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, during her depression and her thoughts of suicide.

A report on the “Evie” website said that Angelina Jolie hired a professional killer to kill her. Because even though she wanted to die, she didn’t want to commit suicide herself.

The reason she wanted to die was because, according to her point of view, “Suicide makes people around you think they could have done something, but with someone killed, no one feels guilty.”

Angelina Jolie believed that it would be easier for her family to have someone kill her than to commit suicide, and also arranged specific plans to withdraw money from her bank account slowly over a period of time so that it would not look suspicious. However, the killer wanted her to think twice before deciding.

“He was a decent enough person and asked if I could think about it and call him again in a couple of months. Something in my life has changed,” Angelina said in one of her interviews about the hired killer.

“It’s good that he convinced her to wait because she went on to have a very successful career and a family full of kids,” the report added.

“Angelina attempted suicide when she was only 19 years old. But over the next few years of her life, she still didn’t feel like she had the will to live.”

Jolie suffered for a long time from many psychological problems, including depression, which she needed after her separation from Brad Pitt.

The international star had recently filed a lawsuit accusing her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, of attacking her and their children while he was drunk during a private jet trip.

Jolie accused Pitt that, throughout the long flight, he emotionally and physically abused Jolie and their children, who were between the ages of 8 and 15 at the time.

And when the children intervened and tried bravely to protect each other, and before it was over, Brad Pitt choked one of the children and hit another in the face.

And Brad Pitt continued his aggressive behavior, as he was insulting them, and he “poured beer and red wine on the children.”

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Xposure International Photography Festival in Sharjah, UAE has been attracting the biggest names in the industry in recent years.

The seventh edition of the festival, which was held from the ninth to the fifteenth of February, included 74 photographers, 68 exhibitions and more than 50 workshops.

Behind this festival is Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council.

Al-Qasimi has a brilliant eye behind the lens and a great skill in photography, thanks to that festival, and he tells Euronews: “I learned a lot from “Expogear”. Every time I see a photographer, I ask him.”

“As time goes by, you start to see things differently. You start to see different colors… This is a place to learn.”

Al-Qasimi always carries his visualization machine with him, saying that “the beauty that you see with your eyes is trying to transfer it to an image.”

Famous Hungarian photographer Esther Horvath was also at the festival, presenting her documentation of the scientific expedition in the middle of the Arctic Ocean.

Since 2015 she has been dedicated to polar photography working alongside scientific groups to achieve a better understanding of climate change and environmental issues.

Speaking of her mission in the Arctic Ocean, Horvath says, “I felt like I was filming the moon landing mission. For me, the moon landing is an inspiration for my work. When we think about it, it’s not thousands of pages of scientific publication that come to mind but a picture of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.” on the surface of the moon.”

“And that’s also my goal with photography to translate difficult scientific research into something very visual that people can understand,” she adds.

Brazilian photographer Gabriel Weckbold also attended the festival for the second year in a row, and believes that the event is an opportunity for cross-fertilization of cultures and ideas.

“I come here and see my art complete itself in a completely different culture and that’s incredible to me,” he says.

Last year, the festival also witnessed a large attendance, making it one of the largest photography events in the world.

The event provides a section dedicated to companies specialized in the field of photography to display the latest equipment and advanced technology for those interested from beginners and amateurs to professionals.

“The event is an inspiring meeting place for photographers who want to push the boundaries of their knowledge and creativity,” says Asaad Abboud, Managing Director of Leica Middle East (the official sponsor of the festival).

Qatar Airways officially sponsors the Formula One World Championship

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 23, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Qatar Airways has become the official global airline partner of the Formula One World Championship, the two parties announced on Wednesday.

Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, and his Italian counterpart, Stefano Domenicali, announced the agreement in Doha, before the start of the new season of the championship in Bahrain on the third of next March.

While they did not announce the value of the deal, sources said it amounted to hundreds of millions of dollars for Formula One.

“Our shared global reach makes us an ideal partnership,” Domenicali said in a statement issued by Qatar Airways announcing the “global partnership.”

“We have been selective in selecting the most exclusive sporting events and sponsoring a variety of new and notable initiatives,” Al Baker added.

The state-owned Qatar Airways is succeeding its Gulf rival, Emirates Airline, which has reportedly paid $25 million annually to Formula One since 2013.

Reports indicated that the United Arab Emirates rejected a major increase when it held negotiations on a new long-term agreement last year.

The move gives Qatar, which hosted the soccer World Cup last year, influence in a new sport as it ramps up its campaign to become an international sports hub.

A major renovation is underway at the Qatar racetrack for the return of the Grand Prix to the Formula One calendar on October 8.
