Intensive Efforts to Release Hostages Held by Hamas

A senior US administration official said Friday that there is no guarantee that efforts to release the hostages will succeed or a time frame for achieving it. On the 7th of last month, Hamas was able to seize more than 240 hostages after a surprise attack against Israel. The movement has so far released only four of them, two Americans and two Israelis. The United States admitted that its unarmed forces carried out flights over the Gaza Strip to help Israel determine the whereabouts of the hostages.

While international efforts continue to release Hostages Detainees held by the Hamas movement, a senior US administration official confirmed on Friday that Washington is making intensive efforts to achieve this goal. But the official warned that there is no guarantee of the success of this effort or a time frame for achieving it. Hamas has so far released four hostages, but it is still holding more than 200 hostages it took after its surprise attack on Israel on the 7th of last month.

The official, who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity, added that there is “indirect contact” aimed at finding a framework for removing the hostages from Gaza, but it is very difficult.

Many hostages are still inside Gaza, which is subject to Israeli air strikes and ground attacks, in addition to a siege imposed by the Israeli army.

The US official said it would take “a significant cessation of the conflict” to extract the hostages. But Israel stressed that it rejects a truce, stressing that it is continuing with its goal of eliminating Hamas.

He continued, “The release of the hostages is a matter that is subject to very serious and active discussion. There is no agreement yet to actually accomplish this matter, but it is something we are working on very seriously.”

He added, “We are optimistic and are doing everything we can to get the hostages out, but there is no guarantee at all that this will happen or when it will happen.”

He said, “We will do everything in our power to ensure the exit of all hostages of all nationalities from Gaza, so there is an active process taking place amid multi-directional efforts, including indirect communication, to try to reach a framework for the exit of the hostages from Gaza.”

The official explained that the administration is also negotiating with Hamas about allowing foreign citizens trapped in the Strip safe passage out of Gaza. He said that the talks are difficult and include an effort by Hamas to expel some of its fighters.

Hamas had previously announced the killing of a number of hostages in the intense Israeli bombing of the besieged Gaza Strip. The movement confirmed on Wednesday that seven hostages, including three holding foreign passports, were killed in the Israeli bombing of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

The movement expressed its readiness to release the hostages it kidnapped during its attack on Israel in exchange for the release of all Palestinian prisoners.

Israeli Army Bombs Syrian Targets in Response to Rocket Launches, Raising Concerns of Escalating Regional Conflict

The Israeli army announced on Monday that it had bombed several targets in Syria in response to rocket launches, amid growing fears that the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip would turn into a broader regional conflict.

Announcement

The Israeli army said on the X website: “A short time ago, an Israeli army fighter plane attacked the platforms from which the (missile) launches were launched last night from Syrian territory towards Israeli territory.”

He added that the Israeli plane “bombed military infrastructure in Syrian territory.” The army did not provide further details. But according to the Israeli public broadcaster Kan News, the raids targeted sites in the Daraa region in southern Syria linked to allies of Iran.

Concerns are growing about the regional repercussions resulting from the war launched by Israel against Hamas in Gaza. There have been a series of attacks on American forces in Iraq and Syria, in addition to an increase in bombing exchanges between Hezbollah and Israeli forces on the Lebanese border since the start of the conflict in Gaza.

On Sunday, the border between Israel and Lebanon witnessed an escalation in tension and continuous mutual bombardment since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas.

Hezbollah announced on Sunday that its fighters “targeted an Israeli march in the East Khiam area (in southern Lebanon) with a surface-to-air missile and hit it directly, and it was seen with the naked eye falling into the occupied Palestinian territories.”

This is the first time since the start of the current border tension that Hezbollah has announced the use of a surface-to-air missile, after it was content with announcing the bombing of Israeli sites with guided missiles or “appropriate weapons.”

For its part, the Israeli army confirmed that it recorded the launching of rockets from southern Lebanon towards Kiryat Shmona and Har Dov, and responded to them.

Israeli Army Accuses Hamas of Using North Korean and Iranian Weapons in Attack

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Israeli army accused Hamas on Thursday of using weapons and ammunition manufactured in North Korea and Iran during the attack launched by it and other Palestinian factions on the Hebrew state on October 7.

Announcement

On Thursday, the army organized a tour for journalists during which it displayed various weapons and ammunition, which it said were found in areas in southern Israel that were attacked by Palestinian movement fighters.

These weapons included some mines, rocket-propelled grenades, and locally made drones, in addition to Iranian and North Korean mortar shells.

Israel confirmed that “between five and 10% of the weapons present here were manufactured in Iran,” noting that “10% of the weapons are North Korean, and the rest were manufactured in the Gaza Strip,” according to what Agence France-Presse quoted an official who refused to reveal his name. .

The military official said, “What is most surprising is the amount of weapons that Hamas fighters brought into Israel.”

On October 7, Hamas fighters launched an attack on Israel, the most violent in its history, during which they infiltrated from the Gaza Strip into areas in the south of the Hebrew state, resulting in the killing of more than 1,400 people, most of whom were civilians who died on the first day of the attack. Hamas also detains 224 people. A person, including foreigners, was taken with her after the attack, according to the Israeli army.

Israel responded with intense artillery and air strikes on the Gaza Strip, killing 7,028 people, including 2,913 children, according to the latest toll from the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Palestinian Prime Minister warns of catastrophic consequences of expected ground attack and calls Israel’s actions a “genocidal war”

Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said on Monday that Israel is waging a “genocidal war” against the Palestinian people, and warned of the catastrophic repercussions of an expected ground attack on the Gaza Strip.

Announcement

This came during a speech delivered by Shtayyeh at the weekly government meeting in Ramallah, and he stressed that “what Israel is carrying out is a genocidal war, carried out by a criminal machine with a barbaric, colonialist mentality, that craves killing, takes pleasure in the torture of innocents and children, and bombs mosques and churches.”

He pointed out that the priority now is “stopping the war and aggression, bringing relief materials into Gaza, protecting civilians and stopping forced displacement, which is an international responsibility.”

He also warned of the consequences of a ground attack on the besieged Gaza Strip, saying: “What we hear from the leaders of the occupying state regarding preparations for a ground invasion means continuing to commit new crimes, atrocities, forced displacement, and killing for the sake of killing and revenge. We condemn positions that constitute a license to kill and a political cover to commit massacres.” And the destruction of Gaza and its people.”

He pointed out that Palestinian doctors are now performing surgeries without anesthesia due to the lack of medical supplies. He said that the Israeli army killed 1,800 children in Gaza, continuing, “The Palestinian people are the owners of a civilization, and we are the owners of the land, and our quest for freedom will not stop.”

For the 17th day in a row, Israel continues its intense raids on the Gaza Strip, bombing residential neighborhoods and hospitals, resulting in about 400 deaths during the past 24 hours, while Israeli Army Radio reported that Israel agreed to Washington’s request to postpone ground entry into Gaza until American forces arrive. Cairo: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinian people do not intend to flee anywhere and will remain in their homeland. The Palestinian president made his position clear in his opening speech at the Cairo Arab Summit in Egypt. The Arab summit was held in Cairo, Egypt, with a peace effort during the Israel-Hamas war. Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq and Cyprus have joined Egypt. Along with them, the United Nations General Secretary and representatives of Japan, Germany, Turkey, Greece and Palestine participated in the summit. The Arab League Secretary General also participated in the summit meeting in Cairo.

Also the departure time will change, do you know the new schedule of Vandebharat jump? The change will take effect tomorrow

Meanwhile, Egypt has opened the Rafah border to Gaza. With this, 14 days after the start of the war, medicine and food started arriving in Gaza. Only 20 trucks of food and medicine reach Gaza, home to 2.3 million people, a day. Voluntary organizations say that it is not even a thousandth of what is needed. However, the opening of the Rafah border is a slight relief to the people of Gaza, who have not even had access to water for 14 days.

Egypt opened the Rafah border yesterday at 1 pm Indian time. WHO trucks were the first to cross the border with medicines. At the same time, reports indicate that the death toll in Gaza, where the airstrikes continue, is approaching five thousand.

EU Interior Ministers Discuss Managing Impact of War and Extremist Attacks

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 19, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

European Union interior ministers met on Thursday in Luxembourg to discuss how to manage the impact of the current war on the EU countries, especially after this war coincided with a firebomb attack on a synagogue in Berlin, and with killings in Belgium and France of suspected Islamic extremists.

A meeting was held for ministers from eight European countries, including Germany, Belgium and France, at the invitation of Sweden, during which the focus was on how to deal with incidents in which people burn the Holy Quran.

Announcement

Prosecutors are trying to determine the main motive behind a Tunisian man shooting three Swedes in Brussels on Monday, killing two of them, before a football match between Belgium and Sweden in the capital.

The war, which began on October 7, has become the bloodiest of the five Gaza wars for both sides, as today the number of civilian casualties in Gaza has reached no less than 3,500 people, the majority of whom are children, and more than 12,000 were injured during the eleven days. past, according to health authorities in Gaza.

While more than 1,400 people were killed in Israel, Hamas captured at least 199 others, including children, and transported them to Gaza, according to Israeli authorities.

European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas said: “We have to deal with the multiple impacts of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, and part of this is assessing all the possible consequences for us in the European Union.”

“This entails protecting our Jewish communities, but also protecting against a generalized climate of Islamophobia that has no place in our society,” he told reporters in Luxembourg, where the meeting is being held.

Pro-Palestinian marches have been organized in several European cities since the beginning of the war, such as France, Britain, Germany, Portugal, and others.

Germany also promised to take tougher measures against Hamas, which is already included on the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said: “We will never accept attacks against Jewish institutions.”

In France, the Palace of Versailles, one of the main tourist attractions, and three airports were evacuated for security reasons and temporarily closed on Wednesday. These attacks came in the wake of the killing of a teacher, in the northern city of Arras on Friday, by a suspected Islamic extremist. The threats have so far been proven to be false.
