Intense Diplomatic Activity and Tension on Southern Border: Latest Updates and Lebanese Position

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The intense diplomatic activity continued in Beirut yesterday, coinciding with the tension on the southern border reaching the highest level since the seventh of this month, with the continued targeting of the Israeli bombing of the south and Hezbollah’s response to it.

While it seems clear that there is difficulty in predicting the course of developments, especially in light of the new massacre carried out by Israel in Gaza yesterday, Prime Minister Najib Mikati continued his diplomatic and political contacts, stressing that “the current priority must be to stop the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza and the Israeli attacks on southern… Lebanon”.
While he was assured that the range of external and internal contacts he carried out demonstrated his concern for Lebanon and stability there, he stressed that the priority is the need for the Lebanese position to be unified towards the Palestinian issue, stressing that Lebanese unity is essential to overcome this difficult stage and strengthen the Lebanese position regarding developments.
This position was met by former MP Walid Jumblatt, who said after the Prime Minister’s visit: “The efforts of the President are tremendous, and we will remain by his side, hoping that we will not be lured into war.”
On the ground, the past few hours, before the Israeli massacre in Gaza, witnessed a major military alert by Hezbollah in conjunction with the clashes that took place in southern Lebanon throughout yesterday.
According to informed sources, “the alert included the party’s elite forces in addition to some military specialties, and it is the first time that the level of preparedness has reached this extent since the start of the war in Gaza.”
The sources believe that “the party will not go to declare full alert, except at the last minute, if it decides to go to war, for many security and military reasons.”

    WhatsApp: Account Protection
