Appleโฃ Intelligence Features in iOS 26: Howโข to Disableโ them
CUPERTINO,โ Calif. (September โข16, 2025) – โคAppleS latest iOS 26 update introduces a โsuite of new Apple Intelligence features, but users concernedโค about privacy or simply โpreferring a traditional smartphone experience have multiple options toโข disableโค them. Apple Intelligence is off byโค default, thoughโ the phone โฃwill prompt activation during setup after updating.
Theโข simplest method is to avoid enabling Apple Intelligence initially.However, if activated, users can globally disable โthe โfeature through Settings and selecting apple โฃIntelligence & Siri.Turning โoff the Apple Intelligence option and confirming the choice will deactivate all associated functionalities.
Disabling Apple Intelligence means foregoing features likeโค notification summaries, Visual Intelligence, โImage Playground, Genmoji, ChatGPT supportโ for Siri, writing tools across โapps, the Image Wand in the Notes app, call screening, news app summaries, screenshot-based searches, and automatic language translations in messages, Calls, โฃand FaceTime.
Users can also selectively disable individual Apple Intelligence โfeatures. This requires navigating throughโค app-specificโข settings. For example, toโ disableโ message summaries, go to Settings,โ then Apps, scroll to Messages, and toggleโค off the โฃ Summarize Messages โข option. Similarly,โ Summarize โขMessage Previews can be โคdisabled withinโ the Phone โapp settings.
Many apps will also have a Learn from this App setting enabled when Apple Intelligence is โฃon,allowing โsiri to learn appโฃ usage for suggestions. โฃThis can be disabled on โa per-app basis under Settings,then apple Intelligence & Siri.
Certainโค settings, โincludingโ Writing Tools,โ Image โCreation, and Intelligence Extensions (like ChatGPT access), are located under Screen Time. To access these, go to โค Settings, tap Screen Time, enableโ Content &โ Privacy Restrictions, then tap Intelligence & โฃSiri to manage โคthose โฃfeatures.
Users are โฃencouraged to experiment with different settingsโ to findโ a cozy balance or disable Apple Intelligence entirely.
