Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Remaster Receiving Free ‘platinum Edition’ Update on Switch This Week
A free update, dubbed the ‘Platinum edition’, is arriving on the Nintendo Switch version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos on October 16th, 2025. The update aims to deliver the “best possible Croc gaming experience” and is also rolling out to console versions of the game.
The ’Platinum Edition’ includes a new Time Attack mode, over 25 additions to the Crocipedia, the ability to switch between different mixes of the Croc Main Theme in the main menu, bug fixes, and various quality-of-life improvements. A key driver for the update is to enable PlayStation Platinum Trophy support, which necessitated releasing a new version of the game wiht a extensive trophy set. This new trophy set, including 16 new Trophies and the Platinum Trophy, will also be available on the Switch, alongside in-game Achievement tracking.
according to the development team, “When we initially launched the Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster, we didn’t include enough trophies to qualify for the Platinum trophy on PlayStation. And it’s not permitted to simply fix this with a patch. So we had to come up with a smarter solution: release a new version of the game with a comprehensive trophy set, including 16 new Trophies and the highly coveted Platinum Trophy.”
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos originally released as a 3D platformer in 1997. nintendo life’s review described the remaster as “an entertaining and worthwhile adventure,” noting that the new controls, enhanced presentation, and extensive museum content are satisfying additions.
