Fever Guard Sophie Cunningham Donates GoFundMe proceeds toโฃ Ronald McDonald House Charities
INDIANAPOLIS – โข Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has donated tehโข funds raised throughโข a recent GoFundMe campaign to Ronald McDonald Houseโ Charities of โIndiana, the team announced Thursday. โCunningham initiallyโค launched the GoFundMeโค to helpโ cover medical expenses forโ a family friend’s child battlingโฃ a rare form of โcancer, ultimately raising over $12,000. โRather of directly applying theโ funds โขto the initial โขcase, Cunningham chose to โคbroaden the โimpactโ by donatingโ the total amount toโข the charity, โwhich provides support and โresources to families with children receiving medical treatment.
The donation reflects Cunningham’s commitment to giving back to โthe community and supporting families facing difficult circumstances.โค While currently recovering from a torn โคMCL, โขCunningham has โremained actively engaged โwith fans and teammates, embracing her role โwith “The bench Mob” โalongside fellow injured players Caitlin โClark (groin), Aari McDonald (foot), Sydneyโ Colson (ACL), โขChloe Bibby (knee), and occasionally Damiris Dantas (concussion). Cunningham described being sidelined as “exhausting,” but expressed gratitude forโฃ the support ofโฃ her teammates.
“it โfelt good to beโค able to take something that started as helping one โคfamily and turn it into something that could help so many more,” Cunningham said in aโ statement released by the Fever. “Ronald McDonald โฃhouse Charities doesโ remarkable work, and I’m honored to be able to support their mission.”
ronald McDonaldโ House Charities of Indiana provides a “home away from โhome” โคfor families with โคchildren undergoing treatment at Indiana hospitals, offering lodging,โ meals, and other essential services.โ The organizationโ serves families from across indianaโค and the United States.
Cunningham is mostly following doctors’ ordersโค in her โขrecovery but admitted thatโค she โฃis a little impatient. During โฃFever exit interviews, she affirmed her readiness โfor theโฃ 2026 season, stating โenthusiastically,”Hell yeah, man,” andโข hoping to ramp up basketball activities in January.
