TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Budi Waseso who previously served as President Director or President Director of Perum Bulog was appointed to become President Commissioner of PT Indonesian Cement (Persero) Tbk aka SIG. The appointment was made by the company’s shareholders through an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held on Friday, December 1 2023.

Vita Mahreyni as Corporate Secretary of SIG said that the meeting had agreed to honorably dismiss two commissioners, namely Main Commissioner Rudiantara and Commissioner Arief Prasetyo Adi. Next, the meeting forum agreed to appoint Budi Waseso as President Commissioner and Independent Commissioner, and Ratna Irsana as Independent Commissioner.

“Furthermore, the Meeting appointed Mr. Budi Waseso as President Commissioner and Independent Commissioner and Ms. Ratna Irsana as Independent Commissioner,” said Vita in her official statement on Friday, December 1 2023.

Furthermore, Vita Mahreyni said that the company will continue to carry out strategic initiatives by improving performance. That way, SIG will be able to continue to provide added value for stakeholders, especially shareholders, and achieve operational excellence and sustainable targets.

Meanwhile, the position of Main Director of Bulog, previously held by Budi Waseso or Buwas, has now been transferred to the Deputy Minister of Trade for the period 2011 to 2014, namely Bayu Krisnamurthi. Apart from Bayu, there were other directors appointed, such as Bagya Mulyanto as Director of Finance and Sonya Mamoriska M. Harahap as Director of Transformation and Institutional Relations.

Budi Waseso’s profile

Before serving as Managing Director Logistics, Budi Waseso served as Head of the National Narcotics Agency or BNN starting from September 8 2015 during the era of the leadership of National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti. Buwas, Budi Waseso’s nickname, was appointed Head of BNN replacing Commissioner General Anang Iskandar. Before becoming Head of BNN, Buwas was Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency or Bareskrim Polri.

Budi Waseso started his career after completing his education at the Police Academy in 1984. The son-in-law of former Deputy National Police Chief General Pamudji served as Head of the North Barito Resort Police, Head of the Palangkaraya City Resort Police in 2004, Head of Opsnal II Puspaminal, Professional and Security Division of the National Police in 2007 with the rank Chief Commissioner, and Head of the Professional and Security Division of the Central Java Regional Police.

In 2009, Budi Waseso was then withdrawn to the National Police Headquarters and served as Head of the Posprovos Litpers Division, Professional and Security Division of the National Police. After that, in 2010, Budi Waseso served as Head of the National Police Internal Development Center with the rank of Brigadier General.

While serving as Head of the National Police’s Internal Development Center, Budi Waseso once sent home Norman Kamaru, who at that time was still active as a member of the Gorontalo Police Mobile Brigade, for appearing on a television station without permission from his superiors. Next, in 2012, Budi Waseso was appointed Gorontalo Regional Police Chief replacing Brigadier General Irawan Dahlan.

After a year and two months, Budi Waseso was then transferred to National Police Headquarters and promoted to inspector general, as well as serving as principal lecturer. On January 20 2015, Budi Waseso served as Head of Bareskrim replacing Commissioner General Suhardi Alius.

However, a few months later, Budi Waseso was transferred to become Head of BNN in mid-2015 until his retirement. In 2018, the Ministry of BUMN appointed Budi Waseso as Main Director of Bulog replacing Djarot Kusumayakti.

Apart from that, Budi Waseso since December 27 2018 he has served as Chairman of the National Kwartir (Kwarnas) of the Scout Movement
