Saturnโข to Shine Brightest This September: Closest Approach in 2025
Bangkok, Thailand – Skywatchers are in โfor โa โtreat this September 21st, asโ saturn will reachโ its closest approach to Earth in 2025. The celestial event,known as Saturn Opposition,occurs when the Sun,Earth,and Saturn align,with Earth positioned directly between the two. This alignment brings Saturn approximately 1,279 million kilometers โฃfrom โEarth, making it aโ prime โคviewing opportunity.
Saturn will be visible in the eastern sky after sunset and remain visible throughout theโค night. โขObservers may be ableโฃ to view โขthe planet with โขthe naked eye, appearing as a bright,โ steady point of light.
The Royal Thai โคArmy will host a free public viewing eventโข onโ Sunday,September 21st,from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at five locations: Sirindhorn Astronomy Observatory in Mae Rim District,Chiang Mai Province; Chalermโฃ phrakiat 7 inโข Nakhonโฃ Ratchasima; Khon Kaen;โ chachoengsao; and Songkhla.
For those unable to attend โฃin person, the โฃNational Research Institute ofโข Astronomy (NARIT) will broadcast the event live on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/naritpage) and YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@narit_thailand).
Saturn will remain visible in the night sky until around โFebruary โ2026,โ though not as prominently as during its closest approach.
