Sabrina Carpenter⁢ Confronts ‌’Horndog’ Image in SNL Hosting Debut

New York, NY ⁣ – Sabrina Carpenter addressed and playfully subverted perceptions of her public image during her first time hosting Saturday Night Live on October 18th.‌ The “Manchild” singer, who previously appeared‌ as⁤ a musical guest in May‍ 2024 and as part‌ of the SNL50 special in Febuary 2025, used ‍her⁢ opening monologue to directly ⁤acknowledge and joke‍ about being labeled‍ a “horndog⁢ pop star.”

Carpenter⁤ began by stating she wanted to “clear up some misconceptions,” then delivered a self-aware bit: “Everyone thinks of me as this, like, horndog pop star, but there’s really so much more to me.I’m not just horny. I’m also turned on⁤ and I’m sexually charged. And I love‌ to read.My favorite book ⁤is the encyclopedia. It’s so big and it’s hard…”

The‍ monologue also touched⁤ on the controversy surrounding the ‌cover art for her recent album, Man’s Best ‍Friend.⁣ Carpenter explained the image, which ‌depicts her on all fours with an⁢ unseen figure pulling her hair, was ⁣misinterpreted. “Some people got a little freaked out by‍ the cover. I’m not sure why,” she said. “It ‌was just⁤ this me on all fours with an unseen⁤ figure pulling my hair,.But ⁣what‌ people don’t realize is, that’s just how they cropped ⁤it. If you ‌zoom out, it’s clearly‌ a picture from the 50th anniversary special of Bowen (Yang) helping me up‌ by the hair…after ‍Martin short shoved me out of the buffet ‍line.”

Carpenter further emphasized a desire⁢ to be seen as ⁢more than just a provocative image, noting, “There is a real person underneath all the sparkles and the ‍wigs and the corsets.” ⁢She punctuated this point by engaging in a playful exchange with a fan, Will from Maryland, expressing mock excitement ⁤over his location. “Ooh, what a sexy, unusual place. See, I love talking to normal people. ‍They’re so captivating ⁢when they’re real⁣ like you.”

Uncensored profanity‌ on “saturday Night Live” ‌has occurred ⁤previously,‌ with Kristen Stewart, Sam Rockwell, Ariana Grande, Norm Macdonald, and Jenny Slate all having used explicit language during monologues or sketches. Pam Bondi & Kristi Noem Respond to Tina Fey & Amy Poehler’s SNL Sketch

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor October 13, 2025
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

Washington D.C. – ⁤Florida’s‌ former Attorney General Pam Bondi publicly expressed amusement at a recent Saturday Night Live sketch parodying her, while a ‍high-ranking ‍Department of Homeland Security official used the skit to highlight the ongoing government shutdown. ‌The exchange underscores the ‌politically charged atmosphere surrounding current capitol ⁤Hill gridlock adn the scrutiny facing Bondi following recent testimony.

The SNL cold open, which aired Saturday, featured Tina ⁢Fey portraying south Dakota Governor Kristi Noem alongside Amy Poehler. A screenshot from the ⁢sketch, depicting Fey’s ⁣Noem wielding an ⁤assault rifle, was shared on‍ X (formerly Twitter)⁢ by Bondi with the caption, “Loving Amy Poehler!”⁤ The sketch‌ satirized Bondi’s ‌recent Capitol Hill testimony, where she faced questioning from Democratic senators regarding issues including ICE ⁣practices, the deployment ‌of American troops in U.S. cities, the Jeffrey Epstein case, and⁤ the current government shutdown.‌

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the sketch to Entertainment weekly, stating,”SNL is absolutely right – the Democrats’ shutdown does need to end!”

The SNL ⁣ skit⁣ referenced several controversial aspects of Noem’s public profile, including an account in her memoir detailing the shooting⁣ of her dog,a detail widely believed to have impacted her consideration as a potential Vice Presidential candidate for Donald Trump. In the sketch, Fey’s Noem quipped, “I’m the rarest type of person in Washington D.C., a brunette that Donald Trump listens to.” ‌Poehler, portraying herself, delivered ⁣the line, “the DOJ has many ongoing operations, and we’re moving like Kash Patel’s eyeballs very quickly in multiple directions at once.”

Bondi’s testimony this past week involved repeatedly defending her positions against Democratic senators’ inquiries. The cold open followed closely on the heels of that contentious questioning.

Aubrey ⁣Plaza and Amy Poehler Skit Highlights Netflix‘s ”The Hunting Wives” Renewal

new‍ York, NY – “Saturday Night Live” ⁣offered a ⁤comedic take on the Netflix hit “The Hunting Wives” this weekend, coinciding with the streaming service’s⁣ announcement of a second season renewal‌ in September. ⁤The sketch, featuring Amy⁢ Poehler and⁣ Aubrey⁣ Plaza, playfully dissected⁢ the show’s blend of suspense, romance, and small-town drama, capturing the cultural conversation surrounding the‍ series.

“The Hunting Wives,” ‌created by Rebecca Cutter, quickly became a streaming sensation, prompting comparisons to “Call Me By Your⁢ Name” for ⁤a distinctly outdoorsy‍ audience, as People magazine noted. The show’s success ⁤has led to a second season,‍ with Cutter promising another “sexy, twisted, batshit⁣ crazy ride through ⁣Maple‌ Brook.” ⁤The “SNL” sketch tapped into this fervor, satirizing both the show’s plot points and ⁤the audience’s reaction to ⁢them.

Poehler and Plaza, who ‍previously ⁢co-starred in “Parks and Recreation,” led the sketch. Poehler parodied Malin Akerman’s character, kicking off a hypothetical second season with a ⁢provocative reveal.Plaza⁢ played a newcomer to the group of hunting wives, initially welcomed with flirtation before ‍facing rejection upon ‍revealing her lesbian identity – a pointed joke highlighting the show’s complex dynamics.

The sketch didn’t shy away from playfully critiquing the show’s production ‍elements, ⁤with the narrator cheekily observing the⁤ “wigs that are doing their best” during an intimate scene. A tense standoff ‍between characters wielding ‌firearms was also featured, underscoring the ‍show’s dramatic ‌core.

Netflix officially ⁢greenlit the second season on September 18, 2024, signaling continued investment in the series and anticipation for its ⁢next chapter. The renewal suggests a⁢ strong viewership and a growing fanbase eager to see where Cutter‍ takes the story next.
