20,000 euros – “It’s worth thinking about what’s good” – 2024-04-26 14:48:21

Jyry Laurila announced on various social media channels that he is available in the summer for various projects, such as painting, construction and yard work.

Two years ago, 18 years old Jyry Laurila set himself an ambitious goal – he wanted to earn 20,000 euros during the summer. And also succeeded in his goal.

Today, 20-year-old Laurila originally wanted to make a Tiktok video series out of her summer work and her goal of 20,000 euros, but she didn’t make it. Laurila has been enterprising since childhood, and she also wanted to gain experience in self-employment, so the work plans remained the same despite this.

Laurila got the idea to market her services using social media. He published his own free-form announcement on Facebook and Linkedin. In his announcements, he said he could help with various tasks and projects, such as painting, construction and yard work, window washing and demolition work. In addition, he also called companies and told them about the services he offered.

– I put the first notices on the fire and I was confident that I could handle those tasks as well. Se Puri understood quite well that it was a young guy and offered to help. I was surprised when I was able to sell the entire summer in the first week.

The work started rolling

Laurila said earlier on Tiktok that her message box “exploded” as a result of the notifications. According to him, there were more than 300 contacts.

– I did all the work that was offered. At first there was a lot of renovation work and painting. I also have experience in social media and online work, so I also did them for some companies. For some companies, I went as a subcontractor to do work for an hourly wage. I even cut the lawn once. The strangest job was assembling the chicken coop.

At some point, Laurila realized that taking on bigger projects was more financially profitable.

Laurila also changed her pricing from an hourly wage to a project wage. He said on Tiktok that he renovated a room in a detached house for a total of 14 hours for an hourly wage of 20 euros. The project salary seemed to better correspond to the value of the work and also increased Laurila’s motivation.

But sometimes it was also tiring.

– I did feel it at times like that when I went to hockey training and went to work on it until late at night. Then I wonder what the hell I’m here for. But I never thought I couldn’t do it anymore. If you like what you’re doing, you won’t feel so much exhaustion, says Laurila.

Your views

Laurila had a “great feeling” after the summer, when the goal was fulfilled. During the following year, the salary money earned during the summer was spent on the hockey hobby and financing student life, but also to some extent on establishing my own Kromistore vintage clothing store.

Laurila says that she has been selling clothes since she was 14, at first on Instagram and later in her own online store. A year ago, Laurila opened a brick-and-mortar store in Turku with her business partner.

Laurila wants to encourage young people to be resourceful in their job search. Job advertisements published by employers may not produce results when there are more applicants.

– You should think about some things you are good at and what you like to do. Then think about how you could find similar jobs. It’s always better to try than to stay there on the sidelines. At least you learn a lot from it and it will also be useful in the future.

In January, the taxman published a rather exceptional summer job advertisement.

Teollisuusliitto threatens with its money – Collected a huge fortune of around one billion euros – 2024-03-16 17:19:24

Teollisuusliitto, which started a large-scale strike, says that it has enough money. The association has been able to collect assets of up to one billion euros.

To the market. The chairman of Teollisuusliito Riku Aalto, the chairman of SAK Jarkko Eloranta, the chairman of STTK Antti Palola took part in the demonstration in Senatintor at the beginning of February. KIMMO HAAPALA

The two-week political strikes in Finland are affecting heavy industry, port cargo traffic and rail freight traffic.

According to Teollisuusliitto, which is part of the strike front, there is no shortage of money and there are enough funds for strike compensation for a long industrial struggle.

– Teollisuusliitto’s strike fund will endure several months of large-scale industrial shutdown, it was reported last week on Teollisuusliitto’s website.

– The assets of Teollisuusliitto’s members have been managed in such a way that the assets of the association have grown significantly.

Talouselämä analyzed the assets of Teollisuusliitto from its latest available financial statements, which are from the financial year 2022.

– The strike fund is not a single item on the balance sheet, but in practice consists of liquid assets and investments that can be realized if necessary, Alma Media analyst Ari Rajala tells.

Fair value higher

The 2022 balance sheet had liquid cash assets of 33.4 million euros and, in addition, securities quoted in investments worth 785.2 million euros, or more than 800 million euros.

– Of course, you can’t use all of that, because the actual operation has been in deficit every year and the deficits have been patched up with investment income, Rajala says.

The deficit of Teollisuusliitto’s actual operations was 24.7 million euros in 2022, 6.5 million euros in 2021 and 14.7 million euros in 2020.

In addition, the association has real estate and other shares with a book value of EUR 78.4 million, but the fair value is probably clearly higher.

– However, these can hardly be included in the strike fund.

According to Rajala, the value of the union’s assets far exceeds its accounting value. The total amount of the balance sheet, i.e. the book value of the assets, was EUR 677.4 million. If you add EUR 237.9 million to the difference between the book value and the market value of the securities, it becomes EUR 915.3 million.

– In addition, the value of the other shares probably owned is higher than the book value, so the value of the assets may well reach one billion euros.

Huge sums tax-free

According to Teollisuusliitto, around 4,000 industrial workers are affected by the strikes. The union has announced that its strike allowance is 166 euros per strike day and compensation is paid for seven days a week. The share paid to the member is EUR 98.50 per strike day after taxes.

If compensation were paid to 4,000 employees, the bill for the two-week strike would total around 9.3 million euros.

A significant portion of Teollisuusliito’s assets consists of an apartment investment company Kojamon of shares, of which the union currently owns 6.39 percent and is the company’s fourth largest owner.

Teollisuusliitto’s Kojamo shares were worth around EUR 175 million at Monday’s closing price. In the past, the union’s ownership in Kojamo was larger, but it sold 8.3 million Kojamo shares in 2021, thus receiving sales income of 166 million euros.

Teollisuusliitto does not pay any taxes on the returns on its investments, because it is considered a public benefit entity.

The story was originally published in Talouselämä magazine.

Among the Diili competitors, there is one clear revenue king.

Running Deal– season, Jaajo Linnomaa is looking for a new manager for Kulttuuritehdas Korjaamo. Iltalehti previously reported that the Diili competitors are dissatisfied with how much the winner of the competition would be paid for the race. The manager’s starting salary is 5,000 euros.

Among other things Laura Bishop, Christopher Hokkanen and Jussi Haavisto commented on the salary issue earlier to Iltalehti. Biskop said that he needed the manager’s salary to be double the amount compared to what was offered from Pesti. Thus, the amount would have been 10,000 euros per month. Hokkanen, on the other hand, stated that he currently earns more as an entrepreneur than what would be available to a manager.
