Doda, J&K – Broadband internetโค services โขhave been restored in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir after being suspendedโ for a week, officials said. The suspension followed the arrest ofโข AAP’s J-K unit president,Fahad Malik,onโค September 8 for allegedlyโ disturbingโ public order,which sparked violent protests.
Authorities had imposed prohibitory restrictionsโฃ and snapped mobile internet and broadband services in responseโ to the โunrest. Restrictions on movement were eased for six hours โstarting Saturday noon after a meeting between Deputy Inspector General of โPolice, Doda-kishtwar-Ramban Range Shridharโข Patil, Doda Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Mehta with civil society members, including โฃrepresentatives ofโฃ traders and transporters.
Officialsโ assured the โrepresentatives that โrestrictions would be progressively eased.โข the reopeningโข of shops, resumption of transport services, restorationโ of broadband and โmobile internet, and the reopening of โschools willโ be carried out in a phased manner, contingent on assessing the ground situation.โ Additional forces were removed from markets asโ shops โreopened today.
