Marvel’s wolverine Release pushed to 2026, Venom Game Still in Growth
New timelines from Sony indicate a 2026 launch for Marvel’s Wolverine, while a standalone Venom game remains in active development. Recent business presentations and previously leaked information reveal shifting release windows for Insomniac Games’ upcoming Marvel projects.
Originally anticipated for a late-2024 release, Marvel’s Wolverine is now slated to launch no earlier than the begining of Sony’s fiscal year 2026, which commences in april 2026. This delay allows insomniac to focus development resources and potentially address impacts from recent cyberattacks. Simultaneously, a Venom spin-off, initially targeted for release as early as the end of 2024, is now projected for a 2027 launch, though its scope and timeline remain subject to change.
The Venom project’s development has seen adjustments, with leaked plans suggesting a scale comparable to Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Prior to cancellation, planned DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 included elements hinting at the multiverse, potentially tying into the Venom game’s narrative. The cancellation of this DLC may influence the direction of the symbiote-focused title.
Sony’s June business presentation (GNS_E.pdf) provided the updated timeline for Wolverine. While official confirmation regarding the Venom game’s status is still pending, its continued development signifies Sony’s commitment to expanding its Marvel gaming universe.
