Bemboka, NSW โ- A rural community in southeastern New South Wales is celebrating the revival of its local pub, thanks to a unique investment by localโ farmers. the Bembokaโค Hotel,โฃ a cornerstone of the town for over 150 years,โฃ faced closure โคbefore being โขpurchased by a collective of โfarming families steadfast toโ preserve a vital โฃcommunity hub.
The pub’s reopening isn’t just about providing a place for a drink; it’s about fostering connection in a small town where opportunities for social interaction are dwindling. Locals say the revitalized venue, which now includes a cafe, offers a space for everyone – not โjust drinkers – to gather, enjoy a โฃmeal, or simplyโค have a coffee.
“You don’t need to be a drinker, you might enjoy a good meal, you might enjoy a cup a coffee,” said Jenny Anderson, a Bemboka resident. “And to be able to have that choice is really important in a community like this.”
The โfarmers’โ investment has been hailed as a lifeline for Bemboka, aโค town grappling with the challengesโ facing many rural communities. the pub’s closure would have removed โฃa โkey social focal point.
“To have a local farming community come in and rescue us all has been really grate,”โฃ Anderson โadded.
another resident, Julie Ringland, described the pubโข as feeling like “home,” adding, “We’ve all missed it, and [were] waiting forโ this day to come. It’s just got a gorgeous vibe.”
