Chrysler Recalls Over 320,000 Jeep Plug-in Hybrids Overโฃ Battery Fireโ Risk
Detroit,MI – Chrysler is initiating a โฃconsiderable recall affecting more than 320,000 jeep plug-in hybrid vehicles due to a potential defect in the battery that could result inโ a fire. The recall, announced byโ U.S. traffic safety regulators,โข impacts a wide range of popular Jeep models.
According to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Chrysler, a subsidiary โคof Stellantis,hasโ received 19 reports relatedโ to the issue,including one reported โฃinjury. โฃThe problem centers around a potential failure within the high-voltage batteryโ pack.
The recall encompasses:
- 228,221 Jeep Wranglers (model years 2020-2025)
- 91,844 Jeep Grandโข Cherokees (model years 2022-2026)
Urgentโ Safety Advice forโ Owners: The NHTSA is strongly advisingโข owners of affected vehicles to park their โvehicles โoutdoors and away โคfrom โany โstructures until a repair is available. Critically,owners are also instructed to refrain from charging โคtheir vehicles. This precautionary measure is designed toโ minimize the risk of a potential fire.
Chrysler plans to beginโ sending interim notification letters to vehicle owners โby December โ2, 2025. A second notification will be sent once a โคdefinitive remedy for the issue has been developed โขand approved.
Vehicle owners โคcan identify if their vehicle is subject toโค this recall by referencing recall number 68C.โค They can contact Chrysler customer service directly at 800-853-1403 for assistance. Furthermore, the NHTSA will make a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) lookup โtool availableโข onโ NHTSA.gov starting November 6, 2025. โ The NHTSA also notes โthat vehicles previously โrecalled for the same โขissue under prior recall campaigns will require the new remedyโข to be performed.
