A 75-minute docudrama, “Our King Sport – History of Dominican Baseball,” premiered Monday evening at the cinema in Plaza Galería 360 in Santo Domingo, coinciding with the upcoming World Baseball Classic. The film traces the history of baseball in the Dominican Republic from its early 20th-century origins to its current status as a national pastime.
Directed by Miguel Vásquez and produced by Metro Films, the premiere was presented by El Nuevo Diario Films and sponsored by BHD bank, Victoria Yeb, JD Guerrero, PetroMovil, and Grupo Rica. The screening drew attendees from the world of sports, entertainment, and Dominican society.
The documentary features interviews with prominent figures in Dominican baseball, including Ricky Noboa, Tony Piña Cámpora, Tony Grullón, Tuto Mota, Rolando Guante, and Osvaldo Rodríguez Suncar.
